More Dengue Cases in Region XII in Mindanao

(From MindaNews)

The Department of Health in Region 12 or Southwestern Mindanao is closely watching at least five villages in General Santos City and nearby Polomolok town in South Cotabato due to the noted clustering of dengue cases since last month.

Dr. Abdullah Dumama, DOH Region 12 director said Thursday their latest monitoring showed that an average of three or more cases of dengue infections have emerged during the last four weeks in Labangal, Lagao and San Isidro aas well as in Poblacion and Cannery Site in Polomolok.

Region 12 covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santps, Koronadal, Cotabato, Tacurong and Kidapawan.

In South Cotabato health personnel have been conducting house-to-house campaigns to promote the 4-S strategy:

- Search and destroy,
- Self-protection measures,
- Seek early consultation,
- Say NO to indiscriminate fogging.

Natural Disasters in ComVal

While staying in Manila for several days, I received the message of more unusual rain and natural disasters from one of my favourite regions in Mindanao, Compostella Valley with its capital Nabunturan.

ComVal Governor Chiongkee Uy (whom I'll be meeting soon in one of these days!) inspects the damages at Barangays Tagbaros and Elizalde, Maco, where a tornado hits the are, while heavy flood of water rushed to the barangay road and damaged the Tagbaros bridge and its nearly surroundings.

Thank you to Abert Dayao, ids, for sending me these (sad) informations. Hope to see you guys soon under better conditions.

Radioactive Plume From Japan to Reach US

Of course, you might wonder, why I repost such stuff as an expat living in the Philippines.

Sie moegen sich alle wundern, warum ich derartige Artikel hier auf meiner Webseite veroeffentliche.

The wind could have change its direction. The Philippines are indeed not very far away from Japan.

Der Wind haette seine Richtung immer noch aendern koennen, und, er koennte es noch immer. Die Philippinen sind nun wirklich nicht sehr weit entfernt von Japan.

It's the concern of a German expat living in the Philippines.
