The full access of interventions for the agricultural sector has always been a part of Governor Tyron Uy's leadership in Davao de Oro.

On March 22, 2022, the Cocolife Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CMPC) in Pantukan officially received 8.7 million pesos worth of machinery and a new facility in support of the cooperatives' production of quality coconut products such as virgin coconut oil, desiccated coconut, and coconut milk. The intervention is also a close support for coconut farmers through marketing local coconut produce as one of the high-valued crops in the market.

CMPC officially received two (2) units of Hauling Trucks, and one (1) unit Warehouse with Wastewater Management Facility equipped also with other machinery and equipment worth 8.7 million pesos from the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in the coordination of the province’s Agriculturist’s Office.

Rudy Ang, CMPC Chairman thanked the working team behind the grants given to them which will directly help the production capabilities of the cooperative to supply products not only in the local market but also on an export scale.

The realization of the intervention for the cooperative is very timely as the demand for coconut products in the market is increasing. Governor Tyron Uy also said that the provincial government continues to foresee interventions for local farmers with positive aftermath.

The ceremonial blessing and turn-over ceremony were attended by Governor Tyron Uy, Deputy Director PRDP Region XI Marila Corpuz, Dr. Ronald Sibayan of PAGRO, Municipal Agriculture Office of Pantukan, and members and officials of CMPC.

The coexistence of green and golden opportunities has brought Davao de Oro to where it is today. Being the second most competitive province in the whole Davao Region, and ranked 11th in the National Competitiveness Index, the province already set an edge among others.

Not only did its unified people give victory in the province for years, but also its rich agricultural lands that were made even stronger with the right interventions and programs from the best leaders. (JA, PAO IPRD, photo by J. Cadiz)

Davao De Oro recognizes heroism among volunteers in the "Bayanihan Sa Paaralan 2019"

Davao De Oro--- Davao De Oro Province celebrates “Volunteer’s Holiday” on December 13, 2019 at the Magnaga Beach Resort, Pantukan, Davao De Oro. With more or less 1,200 volunteers, it was a fun and memorable day as the provincial government spearheaded a day of thanksgiving for their selfless commitment as they give their time and effort to help those children have better quality of education through the provision of a classroom building.
This follows with the success of the Bayanihan sa Paaralan 2019 on five different sites: Danawan in Brgy. Manurigao, New Bataan, Side-4 in Brgy. Mangayon, Compostela; Sitio Sapang-lubog in Pantukan; Sitio-Bongloy in Pagsabangan and Panansalan in Compostela. Not only a 1 unit, 2 classroom buildings were built but also a teachers’ cottage, Kusina ng Kalinga (kitchen) and a Gulayan sa Paaralan (vegetable garden) were provided during the week-long build.

Ni-volunteer gyud mi kay ang tumong ug tinguha nga ang among mga anak maka dawat gyud ug saktong edukasyon. Nangunay gyud mi ug lihok ug nagpasalamat pod mi sa uban ng taga LGU ug lungsod nga nagvolunteer ug nitabang sa amuang dapit.” said Margonio Jacinto, the purok-chairman who donated the space in Panansalan where classrooms and teacher’s cottage were built.
“No wonder sa tanan natung kalisod, challenges sa kinabuhi, dili lang sa atung sarili kung dili sa atung kumunidad maskin unsa ka bug-at nga mga problema, ang mga taga Davao De Oro makalampos ug makabarog gyud tungod kana sa paggawas sa kultura sa bayanihan sa atung mga sarili.” said Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy.
The provincial government of Davao De Oro initiated the celebration for all volunteers who served as “living heroes” paving the way to rack up an aspiration. Each team received a cash prize worth Php 30, 000 from the provincial government as a reward for a job well done.
“We will not stop nga maghimo ug proyekto ug programa pinaagi sa Bayanihan. Through the Bayanihan, we can do everything. Kahit gaano kahirap, kaya nating abutin basta’t nagkakaisa tayo” said Senior Board Member Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy, who has since been look up to as the father of the Bayanihan in the province. He was the one who steered “bayanihan” during his stint as the governor in the later Compostela Valley.

Another Bayanihan school in Comval opens

By Fe F Maestre

Pantukan, Compostela Valley – Grade 8 student, Jerry Kim Baltazar, goes to school everyday at 6 in the morning to walk about an hour and a half just tokan reach the nearest school in Sitio Sapanglubog, Barangay Tibagon in Pantukan.
Used to be made of a makeshift tent, the 18-year old student has the more reason to be excited in the morning of October 9, 2019 as this will be the first time they will have their classes inside the newly-built 1 unit-3 classroom building in the said sitio.
“Ok ra magbaktas kog layo, ang importante makahuman ko kay gusto ko mag-maestro ug makatabang nila ma’m puhon diri,” he said, referring to the only 4 teachers assigned in the area.

Named the Gintong Pag-asa Integrated School, the school was built through Bayanihan sa Paaralan (BSP) initiated by the provincial government of Compostela Valley in partnership with the local governments, national agencies and private partners. The scheme  follows the bayanihan way and the whole of nation approach as a peace-building initiative as it reaches geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) and conflict-affected areas (CAA) in the province.
We want to see to it that the farthest communities will not be left behind, they deserve our attention more. Kadtong lisod ang dalan, kadtong wala pa naabot sa serbisyo sa gobyerno ang dapat tutukan. Wala’y lisod nga problema basta magtinabangay,” said Gov. Tyron Uy.
Also joining the turn-over ceremony were Pantukan Mayor Roberto Yugo,  Ltc Esteveyn E. Ducusin of 71st IB, Cong. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga,  DepEd SDS Dr. Reynante Solitario,  and other local officials.

The school has a total of 55 Kinder to Grade 8 students according to Mellisa Quirol, Teacher in-charge. “Nagsugod mi ug tudlo diri paghunong gyud sa Salupungan aron dili madelatar ang pag-eskuwela sa mga bata. Katong makeshift pa lang among school, naglisud jud mi kay guut kaayo mao nga lipay kaayo mi nga dali kaayo nahuman ug conducive kaayo ang maong eskuwelahan,”  Quirol said.
This is the 3rd series of newly-built schools that was turned over under the Bayanihan sa Paaralan project with the construction finished in just several weeks. Particularly, a 1 unit-2 classroom building each was turned over on October 3 in Purok 3, Brgy. Panansalan in Compostela and another on October 4 in Sitio Bongloy, Brgy. Pagsabangan, New Bataan.
At the end of this week, another 1 unit-2 classroom building will soon be turned over on October 12 at Side 4, Brgy. Mangayon in Compostela.  These four school sites kicked off the build just on September 20, 2019.
While the last school to be turned over will happen on October 13 at the remote Sitio Danawan, Brgy. Manurigao in New Bataan with its kick-off ceremony held just last September 29, 2019.
What’s more, aside from the classroom buildings, a teachers’ cottage to house the teachers who will be staying for the whole week due to distance, a Kusina ng Kalinga kitchen, and a Gulayan sa Paaralan vegetable garden were also put up as component to the Bayanihan sa Paaralan project.
The BSP school sites were led by management teams from the different offices of the provincial government and partnered with Municipal and barangay LGUs, Department of Education and other national agencies, and other private partners.  The Provincial Agriculturists Office, Prov’l Veterinary Office, Prov’l Assessor’s Office, Prov’l Engineering Office, Comval Provincial Hospital-Pantukan, MLGU Pantukan, MLGU Mabini, DepEd Pantukan District, BLGU Tibagon, and 2nd Dist. Congressional Office managed the said school build in the area. (fe maestre/ id comval)

Conquer Compostella Valley in Mindanao

Compostela Valley is a province of the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao - also one of my favourite spots while travelling in Mindanao. The province, called COMVAL for short, used to be part of Davao del Norte, until it was made independent in 1998. The province borders Davao del Norte to the west, Agusan del Sur to the north, and Davao Oriental to the east. To the south west lies the Davao Gulf.

Compostela Valley is subdivided into 11 municipalities namely Compostela, Laak (San Vicente), Mabini (Dona Alicia), Maco, Maragusan, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, New Bataan and Pantukan.

The capital town of Nabunturan is only a two-hours drive from Davao City. There are also several privately owned airstrips in the province, mostly owned by multinational companies.

Come and conquer COMVAL!
