Miss Philippine Anna Lakrini won second runner-up at the Miss Globe 2023 beauty pageant held in Durres, Albania Friday night (Saturday morning, Manila time).

Manvin Khera of Malaysia was crowned Miss Globe 2023. Other winners were: Spain, 1st runner-up; Nigeria, 3rd runner-up; and USA, 4th runner-up.

Other candidates in the top 15 were delegates from Albania, China, India, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Norway, Poland, Thailand, Ukraine, and Venezuela.

The 25-year-old Binibining Pilipinas queen is a professional model and a German Language teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Vienna. She is an advocate for accessible and affordable nutritional health. 

During her reign, she joined outreach programs to provide nutritional support to children in Tondo, Bohol, and her hometown Bataan. She also visited detainees in Bulacan to provide food assistance.

Actress KC Concepcion has expressed that she does not believe that women should be expected to pay on their first date.

On her latest vlog "Ask Me Anything" uploaded on Nov. 12, KC said she would really love for the man to take care of the bill for the first date.

"No way! Not for me!" said KC when asked if ladies should pay the bill on their first date. 

KC added: "I appreciate it when the man shoulders the bill. And ladies, it's up to us too to offer to pay sometimes as well.  I think men really appreciate that. 

"But I think for the first date, I'd really love for the man to take care of the bill. Pero kung hindi ganun ang nangyari, it doesn't mean na hindi okay. But i like to feel like a woman. I like to be kilig. Because I know what I can offer. I know that mag-e-enjoy din siya with me. 

"Splitting the bill is okay at times. Pero huwag naman yung ikaw ang manlilibre sa kanya on your first date. Unless you ask him out at kung gustong-gusto mo siya," she said. 

 

KC, 38, also shared her advice to ladies in their 30s.

"I love being in my 30s. Our 30s are a lot more empowering and a lot more fun in your 20s because you know yourself better, or you should know yourself better—your strengths, your weaknesses, being honest, what you can offer. 

"And hopefully, by now, you already have a job, even if it's not a. career path. Having a job is important. And also you should have more money than you did in your 20s. And you should be more conscious of taking care of yourself. Your skin care, your health. It's like being in your 20s but better.

"You also have your tribe. You know who your true friends are. In your 30s, you also think about doing this for the people you love. When you're still young, especially now, it's a lot easier to travel.

"Mas marami na tayong alam because of social media. I think in your 30s it's a good time to enjoy life. What our lives will look like in the next five years really depends on what we do now," KC also said.

Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee has arrived safely in El Salvador for the 72nd Miss Universe Competition.

Photos of her arrival in El Salvador were uploaded on the Facebook account of Miss Universe Philippines. Michelle, 28, went to Los Angeles, California, before she headed for El Salvador.

Eighty-six candidates will vie for the title of 2023 Miss Universe in El Salvador on Nov. 18 (Nov. 19, Manila time).

Filipino actor-director Joey "Bekikang" Paras passed away on Oct. 29. He was 45.

Joey's demise was announced by his loved ones on social media. The full announcement:

"To all of our family and friends, we are saddened to announce that our Tito Joey Paras passed away and joined our Creator this afternoon, October 29, 2023, at 5:40 pm. Unfortunately, his heart wasn't able to recover anymore. 

"Currently, his remains are still at the hospital's morgue. We need to settle his hospital bills for us to take him home. Our family is knocking at your kind and generous heart to help us raise a fund to cover his hospital bills.

"Kindly PM us immediate family for the bank details. Funeral arrangements will be announced further."

 

 

Joey appeared in several Kapuso shows, such as Sunday PinaSaya, Mulawin vs Ravena, The Last Prince, Princess in the Palace, etc. His film credits include Ayuda Babes, Working Beks, Maria Leonora Teresa, Sisterakas, Working Girls, Bromance: My Brother's Romance, Bekikang: Ang Nanay Kong Beki, among others.

In June 2020, Joey sought help for his heart operation, according to a report by GMA Network.

At that time, the actor needed PhP750,000 for his angioplasty operation.

The mayoclinic.org defined angioplasty as "a procedure used to open clogged heart arteries" to improve blood flow to your heart.

Actress Kris Bernal was one of the stars who heeded his call. 

Joey first underwent heart surgery in July 2018.

Cebuana beauty queen Nicole Borromeo won third runner-up at the 61st Miss International beauty pageant held in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, Oct. 26.

Andrea Rubio of Venezuela was crowned Miss International 2023.

Other winners were: Colombia, 1st runner-up; Peru, 2nd runner-up; and Bolivia, 4th runner-up.

During the final question and answer, Nicole was asked: "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations have targets that are set to be achieved by 2030. What have you done so far in terms of SDGs initiatives?"

Nicole answered: "As someone who experienced the wrath of natural disasters, home is everything. I've worked tirelessly with Habitat for Humanity under the SDG goals of number 11, sustainable cities and communities. It is through this volunteer work that I can see in the faces of the children, how much they wanted to help, how much they want to be a part of the future. Because when it comes to sustainability, we must keep in mind that it's not only for the next generation but to include them in the process."

The race is on for the 72nd Miss Universe Competition!

On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced the top 10 candidates leading in the ongoing fan votes! 

As of Oct. 12, the top 10 candidates in the fan votes are the delegates from France, Nicaragua, Albania, Philippines, Mexico, Myanmar, Puerto Rico, Chile, Thailand, and Lebanon. The MUO said the candidates were announced in no particular order.

"It’s neck and neck! These are the delegates leading the Fan Vote as of Thursday, October 12th (in no particular order). Don’t see your favorite delegate? Download the MISS UNIVERSE app and cast your vote now!" the MUO wrote on Facebook.

The candidates who will top the fan vote will automatically enter the semifinals of the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, which will be announced during the finals live from El Salvador on Nov. 18.

Michelle Dee is the Philippine representative to the 72nd Miss Universe pageant.
