ALLTV will go full blast by early 2023

The newly operational network ALLTV had a successful soft launch on Tuesday, September 13 with a star-studded opening salvo. But like most new projects, concerns emerged early on, which Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) President Maribeth Tolentino promised to resolve.

In an intimate interview with the press, Tolentino said they appreciate the comments of the audience who tuned in to ALLTV's first day as technical issues were noticed.

"Lahat kami kinakabahan, first day naming maglaunch. Even our technical staff, dancers, talents, so it happens, hindi maiiwasan yun. Good thing meron kaming narereceive na feedback, so mai-improve namin sa technical side," Tolentino recalled.

"Afterwards, para kaming nanganak, parang may lumabas na bata. Nasa recovery room kaming lahat, parang gusto naming matulog na lang kasi after so many days, weeks, months kaming naguusap anong show, paano gawin, ano ba ang kulang, nakahinga kami. Actually, kung nakikita niyo lang kami, ayaw naming umalis ng TV, gusto naming mapanood lahat hanggang sa mag sign off," she added.

According to the TV exec, while AMBS was granted frequency by the National Telecommunications Commission back in January, it was only in July that they have decided to finally plan everything out for the September launch.

"Nagsimula lang kami ng July kasi tinapos namin muna yung eleksyon. Mahirap kasi makigulo sa eleksyon kasi meron kaming Senador at Congresswoman na tumakbo [Sen. Mark Villar and Cong. Camille Villar]. So noong time na yun, ayaw naming guluhin ang madlang people. Lahat sila ay excited kung sino ang mahahalal na presidente. Hindi halos kami pinapansin, even ng mga stars. Busy sila mag campaign kaya after election lang kami gumalaw," explained Tolentino.

The executive further revealed they were initially meant to launch in October, which was then moved to September 1 before they finally settled to September 13.

"Kasi yun ang anniversary ng aming principals – Sen. Manny and Sen. Cynthia. Gusto namin lagi kaming may milestone sa aming company para madaling tandaan."

While many have raised their eyebrows when AMBS was granted ABS-CBN's former frequency, Tolentino shared that they were actually able to help many former Kapamilya employees who are looking for jobs.

ALLTV has also yet to complete its daily programming which is why they are still dependent on collaboration between different networks. They have signed partnership with CNN Philippine for their "News Night" and ABS-CBN for their previously aired dramas such as "Ngayon at Kailanman" (2018) and "Doble Kara" (2015).

"Unti-unti binubuo namin para maka offer kami ng complete program. Hopefully January or February 2023 full blast na kami."

On talent acquisition, Tolentino said more artists are hoping to join the network.

"Yung ibang talents hindi makasign sa amin kasi may mga contract sila. But yung iba, gustong pumunta sa amin pero hindi naman namin makuha kasi wala pa namang concept para sa kanila. Nandoon pa kami sa pagco-complete ng programs namin so once complete yun, we can easily get them, balikan namin sila.

"Ang daming nagpi-pitch ngayon nga mga programs. Program muna, bago artista. Pero marami nang nagpaparamdam. Kung pinatulan namin lahat baka ang dami na naming artista."

Finally, Tolentino promised that the Filipino audience can anticipate more of ALLTV in the coming months.

"Hindi malayong mangyari na magventure din kami sa movies. Nandito na kami sa negosyong ito so lahat ng dapat gawin para makapagprovide ng magandang teleserye at movies. We're also planning to have a talent center. Eventually meron kang fresh talents na anytime kapag kailangan mo, meron ka. Lahat ng pumapasok sa negosyong ito, maco-complete yan."

Davao City opens slaughterhouses

DAVAO CITY: The city government here opened double-A halal and non-halal slaughterhouses with cold storage and meat-cutting facilities on Friday.

These facilities, Economic Enterprise Officer in Charge Maximo Macalipes Jr. said, were part of the project plans of the city to put up a facility that caters to the pressing need of prospective customers for an excellent slaughtering that conforms to the standard set by the National Meat Inspection Services.

Macalipes said that his office is truly grateful for the approval of the project and the necessary support such as the financial aspect of the "world-class" slaughterhouse that will be operating soon.

He said that the Manual of Operations for the two slaughterhouses is already finished and is pending official approval from the Malagos Slaughterhouse Management Board.

The project was funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its National Livestock Program, DA 11 Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) Program, and Davao City Government.

The P80 million budget for the completion of the non-halal abattoir was sourced from the DA National Livestock Program, and P5 million came from DA 11 BUB.

The city has also allocated P1 million for the completion of the halal abattoir, and another P7.7 was allocated from the supplemental budget 2022 for the additional equipment.

Slaughter House Master 4 Joseph Gabut, in a previous interview, said that the operation of the slaughterhouses would be to the advantage of the poultry and livestock raisers in Calinan, Mintal, and the Toril public markets, the areas near the slaughterhouse.

The halal slaughterhouse will also provide an additional market for vendors because even Muslim clients will patronize them once their meat is certified Halal, he said.

The cold storage, the blast freezers and the meat processing plant which are the additional features of the non-halal slaughterhouse will be to the advantage of clients because these will help them easily process and preserve food for a wider market reach. The meat processing facility with meat grinders can also cater to a commercial size output.

A cold storage facility is also attached to the slaughterhouses and because of these features, the clients can market their products outside Davao City and throughout the Philippines.

The rates and charges for the slaughter and corral fees for the slaughterhouses will be based on Article 12, Section 383, Ordinance 0291-17 Series of 2017 or "An Ordinance Amending the 2005 Revenue Code of the City otherwise known as the 2017 Revenue Code of Davao," and the charges for meat processing (cutting, blast freezing, cold storage, etc) are still subject to final review before endorsement to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for inclusion with the existing ordinance.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte led the inauguration of the slaughterhouses.

Nominees for 37th Star Awards for Movies revealed

This year’s presentation is headed by current PMPC President Fernan de Guzman together with immediate past president Roldan Castro as overall chairman for the 37th Star Awards for Movies.

No ‘destructive’ tsunami threat to PH after 7.2-magnitude quake hit Taiwan — Phivolcs

There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Taiwan on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the earthquake struck at around 2:44 p.m. The quake occurred at a shallow of 10 kilometers (km).

Although hazardous tsunami waves are possible along coasts within 300 km of the earthquake epicenter, Phivolcs said that there is no destructive tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake.

It defines a tsunami as a series of sea waves commonly generated by under-the-sea earthquakes and whose heights could be greater than 5 meters.

Tsunami is erroneously called tidal waves and sometimes mistakenly associated with storm surges, it added.

NTC urges public to report scam messages

THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) over the weekend encouraged the public to report scam text messages.

Those who will file complaints need to submit their complete name, address, email and contact number as well as the cellphone number that received the messages, a screenshot of the text scam message with the sender's mobile number, and a photo of any of their government-issued IDs to kontratextscam@ntc.gov.ph.

"Your personal data will be kept strictly confidential in accordance with the Data Privacy Act," the NTC said in a statement.

Reports can also be sent to the NTC's website through a text scam complaint form.

According to the regulator, the text message coming from an unknown mobile number that contains a job offer, promises cash and discounts, and may contain a clickable web link is considered a "text scam message."

Numerous text blasts warning consumers about the scam were sent by the telecom companies upon the prodding of the NTC.

Meanwhile, the NTC continued to remind the public to simply ignore the messages by not replying to it or clicking the web link, if there is.

"Once reported to the NTC, immediately block the number and delete the text scam message," it said.

Bigger price cut for diesel seen

Unioil, in its fuel price forecast yesterday, said diesel could go down by P3.80 to P4.00 per liter, while gasoline could either have no price change or a rollback of P0.15 per liter.

MANILA, Philippines — Motorists may see a bigger reduction in diesel prices than previously expected, as well as a slight rollback in gasoline prices this coming week.

Unioil, in its fuel price forecast yesterday, said diesel could go down by P3.80 to P4.00 per liter, while gasoline could either have no price change or a rollback of P0.15 per liter.

The expected decrease in diesel is higher than the earlier forecasted reduction of between P2.50 to P3 per liter as of Friday.

As for gasoline, Friday’s estimates of industry players pointed to no adjustment to a P0.50 per liter increase.

This would be the third consecutive week of rollbacks if the projected decline in prices of fuel products pushes through.

Oil firms will announce tomorrow the final price adjustments, which will take effect on Tuesday.

Last week, oil companies implemented a P0.45 per liter decrease in gasoline, P1.45 per liter for diesel and P1.70 per liter for kerosene.

These has resulted in a year-to-date net increase of P16.50 per liter for gasoline, P34.80 per liter for diesel and P29.90 per liter for kerosene, based on data from the DOE.

A NOBLE HEART AND MIND

The dictionary defines magnanimity as in greatness of mind and generosity of heart especially when it comes to forgiveness, Often times, Filipinos are really magnanimous people. They seem to have the quality of being high souled, rising above pettiness or meanness and the generosity in overlooking injury or insult.

The late Harry Emerson Fosdick, a famous Protestant teacher wrote, "No man ever saved anybody, or served any great or left any enduring impression, who was not willing to forget indignities, near to grudges. The world's saviors have all, in one way and another, loved their enemies and done them good!" Would you agree with this?

Magnanimity, applied to relations between nations and people, transforms hostility into helpfulness. Maybe, once upon a time. Maybe even nowadays. Consider the massive assistance of the United States provided to its former enemies following World War II, enabling them to rebuild their blasted cities and shattered economies.

"Once upon a time", no West Berlin inhabitant will forget the U.S. airlift during the East German-Russian blockade, when the so-called "Raisin Bomber Planes" kept West-Berlin and its people alive.

What quality in human character do you consider the most admirable of all? How about tolerance toward another's point of view without smugness? How about refusing to judge another's action and motives without knowing first what lies behind him?

U.S. writer Clarence W. Hall voiced: "Magnanimity must be developed and habitual by practice, but it's a virtue that sweetens and glorifies life!"

People with a noble heart and mind are fond of day dreams. Of course, fantasies don't have to become a flight away from reality. In fact, psychologists are discovering that they can play a creative role in self-development and a better mutual understanding. It's also one of the best things for the well being of a whole nation.
