READ: Pia Wurtzbach was told she’d ‘never make it’ to fashion week

Husband Jeremy Jauncey shares how proud he is of her

Going after your dreams, no matter how wild and impossible it may seem, can be easily attained when one is surrounded with a strong support system.

Jeremy Jauncey dedicates his latest Instagram post to his wife Pia Wurtzbach who has been attending fashion weeks all over the globe. “Every story starts somewhere. A chance encounter, a lucky break, a half open door. I’ve always found the best stories have one thing in common—that person with a passionate, relentless, undefeatable drive to achieve, and that ability to push against the odds, to take a risk when others tell them no and to chase a dream no matter how far away it seems.”

He revealed that Pia dreamt of breaking into European fashion three years ago. But despite having no network, no opportunities, and no credibility, Jeremy witnessed how Pia worked hard toward that goal.  “I’ve been with you as you worked every angle, took every meeting, trusted many who promised so much and delivered so little. Setback after setback on a journey that only we knew about.”

Despite the many challenges and failures that she encountered, she continued to work hard to reach this dream of hers. Jeremy even divulged that Pia was told that she would never make it to fashion weeks, and that her best years were behind her. But even so, she delivered. “To a level even we didn’t hope for in our wildest dreams.”

“So while social media only shows the glitz and the glamor, never forget that every story starts somewhere. And I know how far away this story started for you. I’m so proud of you,” he ends his post, addressing his wife Pia.

In the comments section, Pia left a message, “Thank you, my love. I’ll see you very soon!”

Belo helps Pia Wurtzbach prepare for her wedding day this year

by Manila Bulletin Entertainment

Discovering the skin-nourishing elixir that allows her and a million other ladies to show off their skin at its barest and healthiest, Pia Wurtzbach’s partnership with Belo Exosomes, the most advanced skin solutions in the market today, signals her meticulous preparation for her impending wedding day with fiancé Jeremy Jauncey.

The couple got engaged in May last year and are looking at a wedding to happen this year, 2023.

The Belo Exosomes treatment uses the revolutionary ASCE+ cell-signaling system that plays the role of skin-saving messengers that deliver information and instructions to regenerate cells, making it a breakthrough in anti-aging technology. It is first brought to the country by the Belo Medical Group.

Available in all Belo clinics, Belo Exosomes is a topical or injected treatment that may be done as an add-on to a basic Belo facial or incorporated into RF micro-needling treatment for faster skin replenishment and regeneration.

The effective nutrients our skin knows and loves are the following: fibroblasts that secrete collagen, immune cells that improve skin healing and regeneration, hyaluronic acid for hydration, glutathione for skin brightening, and other vitamins, minerals, peptides and growth factors that transform the skin. The result is exponentially youthful and vibrant skin, as famously sported by Pia Wurtzbach herself.

“I’m confident facing the world in my natural self and in my own skin,” Pia shares. Veering from the curated, glamorous world of beauty pageants, Pia has come to reveal the raw parts of herself—from meaningful experiences with her family, personal time with her fiancé, to off-duty barefaced moments while traveling or working out. Indeed, being comfortable with your own skin is an X-factor in itself, and it’s because of this outstanding trait that Belo handpicked Pia Wurtzbach to be the face of its newest skin solution, Belo Exosomes.

The Belo and Pia Wurtzbach relationship is a collaboration that was always bound to happen—after all, why wouldn’t the Philippines’ premier beauty authority and one of the premier beauty queens of the country come together? Being ‘confidently beautiful’ plays on both of these beauty behemoths’ strengths, and with Belo Exosomes, now everyone can have skin they’re confident in.

Belo Exosomes is a progressive skin solution that continuously improves skin without the need for surgery or invasive procedures, helping the skin look visibly younger and healthier instantly and over time. This is what makes Pia Wurtzbach the perfect face for the product.

As she prepares for married life, Pia has again found ways to transform herself with Belo Exosomes. And in her words, Pia reflects on her Belo Exosomes ambassadorship by tying it back to her recent athletic success finishing with a medal at the renowned New York City Marathon last November 2022.

She ends, “Belo Exosomes is like training for a marathon—it gets better and better the more you do it.”

So, expect a glowingly beautiful Pia when the big day finally arrives!

Why do you think so many Miss Universe winners come from the Philippines?

As other answers have already noted, the Philippines is currently fourth in the number of Ms. Universe winners produced with the addition of Catriona Gray.

So just taking that contest alone, the country is in a pretty good position. But in the interest of expanding the discussion, we can consider all of the Big Four pageants and see the Philippines is in a very exclusive club.

After Megan Young won the Miss World title in 2013, the Philippines is only the third country to gain at least one crown in all four major competitions.

We also hold the longest streak of winning at least one title in the world. The Philippines had at least one crowned beauty queen in the Big Four from 2013 up to the present. (2013: 2, 2014: 1, 2015: 2, 2016: 1, 2017: 1, 2018: 1)

Finally, (my math could be wrong) the Philippines has the second most number of wins across all four competitions with 15. The US, even with the most Ms. Universe titles, just has 14 across the board, so thanks again Catriona :)

It’s an undeniable fact that the Philippines is a powerhouse in the world of pageants and the reason for that is training.

I elaborate a bit more in another answer

Bjorn Von Possel's answer to Why do Filipinos always win in beauty pageants, more than other Asian counterparts?

Prep is everything when it comes to pageants, and the longer our girls keep practicing their answers, their walks, their smiles, their bearing etc., expect them to keep winning for years to come.

EDIT:

Okay, so the comments insist that Filipinos win because their of mixed race of we have bias towards western standards of beauty aka white.

Let’s set the record straight. Of all the 15 winners the Philippines has had over the four Big Pageants only 5 have a foreigner parent.

Karla Henry (Miss Earth 2008)

Megan Young (Miss World 2013)

Jamie Herrell (Miss Earth 2014)

Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015) and

Catriona Gray (Miss Universe 2018)

The rest of our beauty queens were born and raised here (with the exception of Bea Santiago and Precious Lara-Quigaman who both moved to other countries for studies) and Filipino parents.

Seriously, the “there aren’t any pure Pinays” in beauty pageants myth should die.

Pia Wurtzbach first Filipina figure in Tussauds Hong Kong

By: Helen Flores (The Philippine Star)

MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will join other famous celebrities who have wax models in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

Wurtzbach is the first Filipino to get a wax figure at Madame Tussauds, a wax museum that first opened in London over 200 years ago.

The beauty queen announced on Instagram that her figure would be available for viewing starting next year.

“When I found out, I was so excited. I couldn’t believe it! In my head, this is something that only happens to big stars,” Wurtzbach said.

“I go to Madame Tussauds, so I know what it’s like and how fun it is there. And now, thinking that I’m going to be one of them, I’m very honored, I’m very grateful and I can’t wait to see it,” she said.

Wurtzbach recently went through the measurement process – also known as a “sitting” – for her wax figure, with a team from London.

“It was really quite a process and it’s so high tech! One second they were only taking a photo of my face then next thing I know, I see my face from different angles so instantly. It’s amazing,” she said.

Wurtzbach will be joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Jackie Chan and Choi Siwon.

Madame Tussauds HK described Wurtzbach as “a queen in every definition of the word.”

Wurtzbach’s wax figure will be joining those of the greatest from around the world throughout history in 2019, it said.

Madame Tussauds general manager Jenny You said Wurtzbach’s inclusion in the famous museum is their way of showing their appreciation to the Filipino community living and visiting Hong Kong.

“With Pia’s sweet, positive and fun personality, we really could not have imagined having anyone but her to represent the Philippines in this way and what better way to share this milestone but on her birthday?” You said in a statement.

Wurtzbach’s victory became controversial after host Steve Harvey initially announced the wrong winner of the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.

Pia Wurtzbach: No such thing as beauty pageant jinx

By Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo (philstar.com)

MANILA, Philippines — There are rumors in social media that Miss Philippines Rachel Peters only reached top 10 at the 2017 Miss Universe pageant because Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines was a judge.
This also reportedly happened to Philippines’ Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa during the Miss Universe pageant in 2015. MJ was Miss Universe Philippines 2014. Like Peters, Lastimosa also allegedly did not advance from the top 10 as Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao was in the judges’ panel.

Before Miss Universe, netizens have observed another pattern: Mariel de Leon, Philippines’ representative for Miss International 2017, was unplaced because the reigning country then was Philippines, as represented by Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa.

According to pageant observers, once the Philippines wins in Miss International, the following year, as the reigning country, the nation’s bet will be “unplaced” in the pageant.
For Wurtzbach, superstitions like these have no solid basis.
“I don’t think so. I don’t think that they would allow you to join if you’re already destined to not get the crown. I don’t think pageants would do that. That’s not really fair. And I don’t think there’s a curse either or there’s a jinx,” Pia told Philstar.com in a recent interview during her launch as endorser of mineral water brand Aquafina.

For Pia, nobody and nothing should be blamed whenever Miss Philippines loses.
“I think it just so happened that you know, we haven’t seen a back-to-back yet at Miss Universe. But I don’t think that it has anything to do with the competition or the judges or the girl, our representative,” Pia further explained

Ex-Miss Universe Urges HIV testing in Philippines

Manila (AFP) - The Philippines' former Miss Universe conducted a public HIV test in Manila on Wednesday a week after the United Nations said her country had the fastest-growing number of infections in Asia.
Pia Wurtzbach, UNAIDS goodwill ambassador for Asia and the Pacific, took the test in front of reporters as part of her efforts to raise awareness of HIV and remove the stigma surrounding the virus in the conservative nation.
The United Nations and the government said last week the Philippines saw a 140 percent increase in new cases from 2010 to 2016, bucking a regional trend that saw infections decline by 13 percent over the same period.
"It is very tricky in the Philippines because we're a predominantly Catholic country and we are conservative. That's why it can be quite a challenge to spread awareness on this issue," Wurtzbach said.
"This is a problem that's really happening right now and if we don't do anything about it, we're gonna be number one in the world."
The nation of 100 million people, of whom 80 percent are Catholic, is heavily influenced by the church which frowns on contraceptive use. Testing for HIV is also considered taboo.
Wurtzbach has been campaigning for HIV awareness since winning the 2015 beauty pageant. She secured the crown following a major blunder in which host Steve Harvey initially gave it to Miss Colombia in error.
On Wednesday Wurtzbach launched an HIV information campaign for young people as she expressed support for proposed laws which would allow 15-year-olds to get an HIV test without parental consent. The minimum age is now 18.
The health department had said most reported HIV cases were among men having sex with men. This group on average started having sex at 16 before they had begun using condoms or taken tests, increasing the risk of infection.
"We hope to see an increase in the rates of regular HIV testing among Filipinos to normalise the procedure as a regular medical exam," Wurtzbach said.

PASAY CITY — Filipinos proved once again they are a force to beat when it comes to being the biggest pageant fans in the world, or in this case the universe, as the first-ever Miss Universe merchandise store was opened at Mall of Asia on Friday.
Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, and Shawn McClain, Miss Universe vice president for business development and marketing, led the ribbon-cutting at the store that will be open until its supplies last.
Here's a look at the Miss Universe items you can buy at the pageant's flagship retail stall.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will soon end her successful reign, but she's not yet done with her chosen cause of promoting HIV awareness.
In a post on her Instagram account, Pia posted a photo wearing a bikini while addressing her bashers.
"Just to get some things straight. I haven't forgotten about my advocacy, ok?.. I said I would raise awareness. Putting the spotlight on it so we can start talking about it."
Pia explained that it wasn't her style to seek attention by posting all the work she is doing behind the scenes to promote her advocacies online.
"Just like during the competition, I wasn't posting my everyday pageant activities and that upset a lot of fans. They thought I wasn't doing any effort. I just really did not like posting anything online… I don't work like that. I put my phone down and I work. And did it work? Yes."
Pia has previously posted a bikini photo to promote HIV awareness.
Now that you're all aware that Pia is indeed doing her duties, here are some other pictures of our very own Miss Universe sizzling in a bikini. Bikini photos for a cause? Sounds like a win-win situation.
