Rufa Mae Quinto to voluntarily surrender, warrant of arrest like in Neri Naig case confirmed — lawyer

MANILA, Philippines — Atty. Mary Louise Reyes confirmed that her client Rufa Mae Quinto has a warrant of arrest.

In a report by "24 Oras," Reyes said that Quinto is charged with 14 counts of violations of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code in relation to the issue of Dermacare, the same company involved with the incarceration of former actress Neri Naig-Miranda.

Quinto, however, is not facing an Estafa complaint, unlike Neri, so she can post bail.

"She will face those charges... mag-voluntary surrender siya and magpo-post po kami ng bail for that. She's worried kasi hindi naman totoo 'yung allegations kasi my client po is just a brand ambassador, a model-endorser," Reyes said.

"Ni hindi sa kanya nakapagbayad ng down payment, tapos 'yung mga tseke po puro tumalbog. Lahat po 'yan hawak naman po namin 'yung ebidensya, ipe-present namin sa court," she added.

Neri was arrested in a mall in Pasay City last November 23.

The arrest warrant was reportedly served for Neri because of 14 counts of violation of Securities Regulation Code. Bail was set at P126,000.00 for each of the counts, amounting to over P1.7 million or almost P2 million in total, but the Estafa case has no stated bail.

Rufa Mae Quinto says not sad losing P1 million in 'LOL: Philippines'

MANILA, Philippines — Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto revealed that she didn't feel sad about losing in the reality show “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines.”

In an interview with reporters, Rufa Mae said that the show became "dirty."

“I didn’t feel bad about losing because I already knew where it was heading. The game was starting to get really dirty, so I opted out," she said.

"Of course, who wouldn’t want to win P1 million? I could have tried to fight for it, but I decided to let it go," she added.

The actress said the show became "dirty" when the remaining contestants Chad Kinis, Jerald Napoles, Empoy Marquez, Victor Anastacio and Pepe Herrera started playing the game of cards, kissing each other.

Rufa said she did not want to "lock lips" with her fellow contestants. The actress has a husband and a child and she did not want them to see her doing it on TV.

She added that she her brand of comedy is different from her fellow contestants.

Wen asked what she learned from the show, Rufa Mae said, “Keeping one’s self from laughing is so difficult that you would eventually cry. Also, the secret to not laughing is to keep yourself feeling hungry. You will eventually get angry at everyone around you and won’t feel like laughing at all."

The comedienne revealed that she ate too much during the lunch break and it made her rush to the toilet in the middle of the competition.

The first edition of the "LOL: Philippines" also featured Jayson Gainza, Kim Molina, Negi and Tuesday Vargas.

The 10 contestants vied to win the P1 million prize money, which will be won by the one who will be able to stop smiling or laughing at the end of the challenges. Chad Kinis eventually won the show's first season after its six-episode airing last July.

Rufa Mae Quinto cries as she washes dishes in the US

Published June 3, 2021, 8:14 PM

by Robert Requintina, Manila Bulletin

Stranded in the US, comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto-Magallanes got emotional when she revealed she had a hard time adjusting to motherhood.

“Tuwing nakikita ko yung mga artista, sasabihin ko sa sarili ko, tuwing naghuhugas ako ng plato, ‘after everything I’ve done, sumikat ako sa Philippines, ito lang ba ang bagsak ko? Maghugas ng plato? Hirap na hirap ako nu’ng una. Umiiyak-iyak pa ako. End of the world na para sa akin nu’ng una ko dito,” said Rufa Mae during an interview by Pia Arcangel for the show “Tunay Na Buhay” on GMA recently. (Every time I see movie stars, after all my achievements in show business, is this all I will do? I will just end up washing the dishes? I used to cry. I thought it’s the end of the world for me).

But Rufa Mae said she has adjusted to her ordinary life in the US. She’s happy taking care of her family, especially her daughter Alexandria.

“Ako lahat dito kaya wala ka na talagang time para sa kung anu-ano. Kung hindi importante o trabaho, hindi na ako dapat lumabas kasi mag-fall down yung bahay.” (I am so busy here that’s why I don’t have time for other things. If it’s not that important, I don’t go out anymore).

She added that she misses show business so much.

Rufa Mae said that she and her husband went to the US to celebrate Valentine’s Day in February 2020.  Due to the pandemic, they have been staying abroad for more than one year now.

But Rufa Mae said that she is scheduled to return to the country anytime this year.
