Alexa Ilacad, 'Miss Behave' cast explore sisterhood, survival and redemption

The actress leads the cast of the new iWant original series “Miss Behave,” a dark comedy-drama that explores friendship, trauma, and the strength that can emerge when young women choose to fight back together.

Premiering today (June 3) on iWant, the 10-episode series follows five high school girls whose lives are upended after their private photos are shared without their consent. What begins as a deeply traumatic experience becomes a journey of healing, empowerment, and reclaiming control.

For Alexa, who plays the academically gifted Marla, the story goes beyond typical teen drama.

“We're trying to fight back with our dialogue, with how we treat each and every scene,” she said during the show's media conference in BGC. “This is for all the victims, for all the girls and everyone in between who have experienced having something important taken away from them.”

Directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal, “Miss Behave” tackles issues that many young people continue to face today, including misogyny, abuse, betrayal, and the long-lasting effects of trauma.

The director described the series as a story about survivors finding their voice.

“We wanted the survivors to have the last laugh,” Payawal said. “We don't take our topics lightly, but our treatment has humor. It's a sign of victory. It's a sign of survival.”

At the center of the story are five girls, each with distinct personalities and strengths.

Alexa's Marla is a straight-A student with a photographic memory who appears to have everything figured out until her world begins to unravel.

Joining her are Xyriel Manabat as Nyx Rodriguez, an unapologetic innovator with a passion for robotics; Reign Parani as Isobel, a chemistry enthusiast whose confidence often masks deeper vulnerabilities; Andrea Abaya as April Javier, a brilliant hacker struggling to find where she belongs; and Rans Rifol as Daphne, an ambitious scholar gifted with numbers and determination.

While the series deals with heavy subject matter, much of its emotional core comes from the bond formed among the five girls.

Reign described the show as a celebration of “girlhood” and women supporting one another.

That sense of sisterhood extended beyond the cameras.

According to the cast, the friendships they built during production became essential in navigating emotionally demanding scenes.

“I need to make these people feel like they can be at home with me and I can be at home with them,” Alexa shared. “If I want to make this project work, I need to open myself up to these people.”

The ensemble cast also includes Zach Castaneda as Lester Manalo; Raven Rigor as Anthony “Ant” Pedron; JC Alcantara as Cole Javier; BGYO member Akira Morishita as Warren Galang; Zach Guerrero as Earl; and LA Santos as Migo Alcera.

Romance also plays a role in the series, with Alexa admitting that “Miss Behave” includes both kissing and love scenes. The actress said she was initially nervous about filming them, particularly because it marked her first on-screen kissing scene.

However, she credited the production for creating a safe environment built on trust and consent.

“Everything was talked about. Everything was consensual,” she said.

Still, the cast emphasized that the show's central message lies elsewhere.

For Xyriel, the project became more than just another acting assignment.

“Every scene is a shout for justice to the voiceless,” she said. “This is not just for the story. This is an advocacy.”

That sentiment reflects the heart of “Miss Behave,” a series that uses the language of youth entertainment to tackle difficult realities facing a new generation.

Through humor, friendship, romance, and moments of heartbreak, the show ultimately asks what happens when young women stop being silent and start standing together.

Miss Universe Philippines 2026 reveals 51 candidates, expands public voting

Published Feb 17, 2026 11:49 pm

The search for the next Filipina Miss Universe officially kicked off as 51 candidates vying for the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 crown were formally presented yesterday at the Grand Ballroom of City of Dreams Manila.

Wearing coordinated pink and red ensembles to reflect the period between Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year, the candidates made their first collective appearance before members of the media, pageant partners, and fans.

Prior to the indoor presentation, the delegates kicked off the festivities with a parade around the SM Mall of Asia complex, delighting pageant followers who gathered for an early glimpse of this year’s aspirants.

Miss Universe Philippines officials also announced key updates for the 2026 edition, including the confirmation of Misamis Occidental as the official host province and local government partner. Pangasinan was also announced as the venue for the 2026 national costume competition.

New selection format

Miss Universe Philippines Vice President Voltaire Tayag said the organization is introducing a revamped selection process to increase transparency and public participation throughout the competition.“We are introducing a new selection format that is intended to rally public support for the delegates, while also showcasing transparency every step of the way,” Tayag said. “We are bringing the journey closer to Filipinos by allowing them to have a significant say in every stage of the pageant up to the semifinals.”

Under the new system, major preliminary segments - including the evening gown, swimsuit, and closed-door interview - will be filmed and recorded in March. These materials will then be released weekly as part of a multi-round public voting process.

Starting April 5, the competition will roll out its first preliminary week with the evening gown segment, marking an earlier and more sustained evaluation period for the candidates.

All of the videos and photos will be released weekly through the different segments in every round,” Tayag said, noting that candidates are expected to remain at peak form as early as March. He added that designers were asked to complete their creations earlier than usual due to the adjusted timeline.

At the end of each voting period, a select number of delegates will advance to the next round, beginning with the swimsuit segment. Advancement will be determined through a combination of public votes via Maya app and selections made by the judging panel.

Candidates who do not advance through public voting will continue to participate in official events and provincial tours throughout April. Tayag stressed that delegates still have chances to move forward through selection panel choices, brand awards, and wildcard slots to be announced during the finals.

A new interactive feature will also be introduced during coronation night, allowing registered viewers to vote in real time as the candidates take the stage.

“Every moment matters. Every vote counts,” Tayag said. “Every stage of the competition is an opportunity to showcase your best.”

Showdown of pageant veterans

This year’s competition is also shaping up to be a "puksaan"  with several seasoned pageant veterans joining the roster.

Among the candidates are Ysabella Ysmael of Taguig City, MUPH 2020 first runner-up; Apriel Smith of Cebu City, MUPH 2020 Top 16 finalist; Miss Earth-Water titleholders Bea Millan-Windorski of La Union and Roxie Baeyens of Baguio City; Nicole Borromeo, who finished as third runner-up at Miss International 2023; Justine Felizarta of Manila, first runner-up at Miss Tourism World 2023; Ashley Subijano of Luisiana, Laguna, a Miss Eco International 2023 semifinalist; and Imelda Schweighart of Kalibo, Aklan, a resigned former Miss Philippines-Earth 2016.

SexBomb Girls announce Rawnd 6 and first international concerts in UAE

Published Feb 11, 2026 11:35 pm

What began as a nostalgia-driven reunion has turned into one of the most successful concert runs in Philippine pop history.
Following five sold-out shows attended largely by “mga batang pinalaki ng SexBomb,” organizers have confirmed that the SexBomb Girls’ Get, Get, Aw! Reunion Concert will return for a Rawnd 6, along with the group’s first-ever international concerts to be held in the Middle East.

"Nagsimula sa simpleng entablado...ngayon international na ang kembot (It started on a simple stage… now the hip sway goes international," the group's leader, Rochelle Pangilinan, and producer NY Entourage Productions announced on social media
The upcoming overseas shows dubbed "Get Get Aw! UAE" will be held on March 27 (Friday) at the Dubai Exhibition Centre and on March 28 (Saturday) at 321 Sports in Abu Dhabi.
While the venue for Rawnd 6 has not yet been announced, the follow-up concerts mark a major milestone for the OG (original) girl group first formed in 1999. With their revival, many local and international fans have been clamoring for them to perform outside Metro Manila.

The Get, Get, Aw! concert series opened on Dec. 4, 2025, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and immediately sold out. A second show followed days later at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, where demand continued to surge. What was initially announced as a finale for Rawnd 3 on Feb. 6, 2026, eventually expanded into two additional sold-out shows at the same venue, held on Feb 7 and 8.
Fans went wild over the dances and songs that brought them back to their youth. The SexBomb Girls exceeded expectations, delivering a world-class production that gave their audiences their money’s worth.
They didn't just dance, they delivered circus-like acrobatics paired with delightful costumes. From the start of the show, they made a dramatic entrance through hydraulic stage lifts. The 360-degree stage and the girls' overall performance set a new standard for how reunion shows should be staged. While the concerts stretched for three hours or so each night, the crowd loved every minute and even screamed for more.
Ice Seguerra was a special guest during the Feb. 8 concert.

Rawnds 3 to 5 also turned into a celebration of Filipino music across generations, gathering some of the biggest names in OPM on one stage.
For the three days of the MOA Arena concert series, guest performers included such heavyweights as Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gloc-9, Apo Hiking Society, La Diva, BINI, and Alamat, among others.
With the new announcement, the Get, Get, Aw! Concert has evolved far beyond its original goal of reuniting the Sexbomb Girls. Their sold-out shows prove the girls' place in Philippine pop culture and how their enduring appeal remains among their fans.

Miss Globe 2025 Chayathanus 'Cheraim' Saradatta makes first PH visit, spends birthday with Bb. Pilipinas

Published Jan 27, 2026 08:31 am

Reigning Miss Globe 2025 Chayathanus “Cheraim” Saradatta of Thailand arrived last Sunday on her first visit to the Philippines. She also marked two milestones as she celebrated her birthday and witnessed the renewal of The Miss Globe Organization’s partnership with Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI).

Cheraim was warmly welcomed by BPCI officials and queens during a media conference at World Kitchens in Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City on Jan. 26.
The Miss Globe Vice President Frenki Bozo, announced in the event a new three-year contract extension between BPCI and The Miss Globe. "Unofficially, I think this will last a lifetime," he stated of the 12-year partnership, describing the Philippines as "a second home."
Cheraim arrived in Manila on Jan. 25, which happened to be her birthday, and marked the occasion with a dinner alongside BPCI executives and Binibining Pilipinas queens.
At the welcome party, Cheraim was greeted by a friendly lineup of Bb. Pilipinas queens, namely: Maureen Montagne (The Miss Globe 2021). Katrina Anne Johnson (Binibining Pilipinas International 2025), Anna Valencia Lakrini (The Miss Globe 2023 2nd runner-up), Jasmin Castro Bungay (The Miss Globe 2024 2nd Runner-Up) , and Dalia Varde Khattab (Binibining Pilipinas 2025 1st Runner-Up). Annabelle Mae McDonnell (Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2025) greeted Cheraim via video.
Cheraim expressed her delight at the reception, saying, “If Thailand is my first home, the Philippines can be my second home. You make me feel welcome and comfortable all the time.”

She shared her fondness for Filipino cuisine, naming adobo and halo-halo among her favorites, and proudly recited a few Filipino phrases including "salamat po."
"I love adobo. And then halo-halo. And actually, back when I was a model, a friend bought me sisig!," Cheraim revealed.
She is scheduled to remain in Manila until Jan. 29, during which time she will join BPCI for tours and charity activities.
Addressing rivalries among international pageant fans, Cheraim relayed a message of unity and respect.
“Being proud of your country is very good,” she said. “But seeing diversity from all around the world gives us a chance to open our hearts. You can cheer for your country, but also cheer for others.”

Cheraim outlined her international travel plans, noting that after visits to Nepal, Vietnam, and Thailand, she will continue to China and Malaysia before embarking on European and South African tours.
She named Maria Ehren as her favorite Thai beauty queen and role model for her dedication to advocacy and empowerment.
“For a queen, it’s not only about beauty or gowns,” she said. “It’s about the goals you advocate for and how much you empower others.”
Cheraim fondly recalled friendships formed during the Miss Globe finals, especially with candidates from Albania, Indonesia, Australia, the Czech Republic, and other countries.
"It was a very good time. I think the friendship between queens is what keeps you going every day because of the competition. They are tiring sometimes. But if you have someone who helps you, understands you, and encourages you, you can get through many things," she reminisced.

Cheraim offered practical advice to aspiring pageant candidates, stressing the importance of preparation and time management.
“Being a queen doesn’t happen overnight,” she said. “It comes from years of dedication. So always manage your time, be ready for anything, and be your best version. Because you never know, like, maybe the chance is hiding somewhere you can't see, you know? You need to be in your best version all the time and know that it's not just about how you perform. It's all about your daily life," she advised.
Her beauty regimen, she said, focuses on rest and consistent skincare, particularly before makeup application.
Asked about her birthday wish, Cheraim replied: "One thing that I wish for is that I wish that my reign is full of experience. So that after I give the crown to others, I can still retain the knowledge I gained from Miss Globe. And also, I wish that I could give so many things to my next queen, even from Miss Globe Thailand. So you need to invite me back so I can learn a little bit more. I would love to come back."
Cheraim’s visit coincides with the early buzz leading up to the 62nd Binibining Pilipinas pageant, the details of which are expected to be formally announced soon.

"This is part of our organization's push for inclusivity and our legacy of promoting local tourism. I always say pageantry is the best and cheapest platform to promote our tourism industry. Arnold Vegafria says foreign backers want a Filipino to run Miss Universe

Published Dec 7, 2025 10:38 pm
Could the next owner of Miss Universe be a Filipino? This question emerged as Arnold Vegafria of ALV Pageant Circle confirmed that he has been approached by several international investors urging him to take over the global pageant brand.

"We have the network. We have the capacity. We have the capability. If Thailand can do it, the Philippines can do it even better," Arnold declared in an interview after the contract signing between Beauty&U Philippines and Miss Grand International 2025 Emma Mary Tiglao at Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.
"I know I can do it. I have the experience, and marami ring tumatawag sa akin na mga international investors that they're willing to support kung Philippines na lang ang mag-handle, na baka raw mabuti kung Filipino ang mag-handle. Kung ako ang pipiliin eh siguro pwede mo nang tanggapin, di ba? Kung iisipin ko, good opportunity ito sa akin, and good also for the country. (Many international investors have been calling me, saying they’re willing to support if the Philippines takes over, and that it might be better if a Filipino handles it. If I’m the one chosen, then maybe I can accept it, right? If I think about it, this is a good opportunity for me and also good for the country)," Arnold revealed.
MUO is currently co-owned by Raul Rocha Cantu, who is under investigation in Mexico for alleged drug, gun, and fuel trafficking, and Jakkaphong "Anne" Jakrajutatip, who has been served an arrest warrant for a fraud case in Thailand. Their legal entanglements have brought the future of MUO into question, especially after they expressed interest in selling their stakes and faced rigging allegations during the 2025 edition, when Mexico's Fatima Bosch was crowned.
Arnold heads the ALV Pageant Circle, which holds the Philippine franchises for Miss World, Mister World, Miss Grand International, and Miss Asia Pacific International. His organization delivered several major global crowns for the country in 2024 and 2025, including back-to-back victories at MGI and Face of Beauty International.
Arnold said he is interested in acquiring the Miss Universe franchise because it will also promote the Philippines as a global beauty and tourism destination. Pageantry, he noted, is one of the most affordable and far-reaching platforms to promote the country. He cited tourism videos produced by lovely candidates that introduce local places to global audiences.

“Other countries use the pageant industry as their tourism. And here in our country, we have a lot that we can offer and showcase to the world,” he said.
Arnold also expressed hopes that the Philippine government would one day support pageantry the way it supports sports. “These beauty queens are also considered champions in their own field. Give them a little incentive, give them a grant, so that the pageant industry will grow and be respected.”
As for what it would mean to run Miss Universe itself, Arnold acknowledges the responsibility but remains enthusiastic. “Number one, it's a big responsibility. But it's good for our country that we can have one of the biggest, you know, pageant organizations,” he noted.
If he's given the chance to acquire MUO, Arnold acknowledged the complexities of handling another global brand while managing multiple franchises locally. However, he emphasized that he is willing to study the opportunity seriously if the doors open.
“It's a big responsibility, but it's good for our country, once in a lifetime. If we can grab it, we should," he closed.

Calling the situation “one of a kind” and “a little bit off the proper track,” she attributed the disorder to new management within the Miss Universe Organization.
“Maybe they’re just beginners,” she remarked. “Parang nowadays, it’s very… I think magulo sila (they’re disorganized). Unfortunately, it’s that way. Kasi hindi naman sila ganun dati (the org was not like that before).”
Gloria, as Miss Universe 1969, didn’t mince words about what she believes is happening internally. “I feel that there are too many cooks. Ang daming nakikialam (too many people are meddling),” she said. “Dapat, there’s one president who makes the rules, whether it be biased or not, para hindi magulo. (There should be one leader who makes the rules so that it's not chaotic.)"
The country's first Miss Universe also urged the organization to return to using judges who are “credible” and “beyond reproach,” saying that, in her era, those selected had no agenda. “ They should get more credible judges. During my time, the judges were really beyond reproach. No agenda. Parang ganun eh. But this has been going on for some time. It’s only now that it seems a little bit more obscene.”
When asked about Ahtisa Manalo's third runner-up placement in Miss Universe this year, Gloria advised: "She can try again next year. Yun naman ang uso. Pwede ’yan. Kahit sampung beses ka pa (That’s the trend now. It’s allowed, even up to 10 times).”

She also weighed in on Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch’s win, saying beauty pageants often come down to elements that extend beyond facial beauty.
“Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But many times, it’s not because you’re beautiful or you’re not beautiful. It’s because you’re lucky. So maybe she was the lucky one,” she noted.
Gloria added, "It's sad." The new Miss Universe faced a lot of backlash. “She’s also beautiful. Pero pinagtulungan din siya (people ganged up on her). Maraming nag-abandon sa kanya. (A lot of people abandoned her.)”
Speculation has circulated online about the possibility of Bosch's dethronement or resignation, but Gloria observed that the new Miss Universe should hold on to her crown.
“Bakit siya mag-dethrone? Kung ako ’yan, kapit-tuko (I’d cling to it),” she said with a laugh. “Lahat naman sila deserve (They all deserve it). Pero tayong mga Pilipino, siyempre we love our own. (For us Filipinos, of course, we love our own).”

Star For All Seasons and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto, fondly called "Ate Vi" by most, has been in the showbiz limelight since she was 10. After six decades and counting, she shows no signs of slowing down.
Last Saturday, Oct. 25, Ate Vi was honored with the Best Actress recognition for "Uninvited" at the 27th Gawad PASADO Awards given by the Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro - a national organization of film educators, teachers, and academics from various schools and universities in the Philippines.
In the event held at Manila Tytana Colleges, she was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for being recognized as Best Actress by Gawad Pasado five times. She was previously cited for her performances in "Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?" (1998), "Anak" (2000), "Dekada ’70" (2002), and "Everything About Her" (2016).
Asked what keeps her relevant after more than six decades in the business, Ate Vi attributes her attitude and work ethic.
“Hindi ako natakot to reinvent myself, to learn more. Just because I won Best Actress, does that mean I'm the best? Of course not. You're only as good as your last film. After that, there's someone better than you," she pondered.
Ate Vi pointed out that the lessons she would like to impart to others in the industry are the following: "non-stop learning, willing to take the risk, love your career because it will love you back. The same people you meet on the way up are the same people you will meet on the way down, so learn to be grateful to everyone around you."
Even after playing nearly every imaginable character in six decades of acting, the veteran actress still has dreams to fulfill.
“May dream pa ako na gusto kong gumanap na isang Muslim,” she shared. “‘Yung ginagawang kultura ng isang Muslim. At ‘yung pagiging mentally challenged, although baka mukha ng awkward sa edad ko. (I still dream of playing a Muslim woman and portraying their culture, and maybe a mentally challenged person, though that might look awkward at my age.)"
Although her focus now is serving the province of Batangas, Ate Vi admitted to always missing her first love.

“I will be serving Batangas for three years, pero sana kahit maka isang pelikula, ipapakiusap ko sa mga Batangueño. Nami-miss ko rin, hinahanap ng katawan ko talaga. (I’ll be serving Batangas for three years, but I hope to make at least one film. I miss it; it’s something my body really longs for)," she said.
Now in her second term as governor, Ate Vi said she has learned to impart a modern style of governance.
“Sa trabaho namin ngayon, there’s no such thing as ‘tomorrow is another day,’ kasi yesterday is the deadline,” she explained. “With technology now, pag babagal-bagal ka, walang mangyayari. Lahat dapat fast-track (In our work now, there’s no such thing as ‘tomorrow is another day,’ because yesterday is already the deadline. With today’s technology, if you’re slow, nothing gets done. Everything must be fast-track.)"
One of her major initiatives is "Capitol on Wheels," a mobile government office that brings public services directly to the people. “Kami na ang lumalapit sa tao. Hindi na sila pipila at magugutom para sa ayuda. Enough of that,” she said proudly.
(We’re the ones going to the people now. They no longer have to queue and go hungry just to receive assistance. Enough of that.)
Ate Vi on corruption
Addressing the corruption scandals that plague Philippine politics, Ate Vi stated that the issues make her feel bad.
"At the end of the day, ang nahihirapan ay ‘yung tao. Pero dapat resolbahan. I am not being self-righteous here, okay? Pero since naging public servant ako, ang isang natutunan ko, up to this day, ang sinusunod ko lang ay tatlo. Unang-unang, follow the law. Secondly, be accountable to your people. And third, be transparent. No shortcuts. Yan lang yan. (At the end of the day, it’s the people who suffer. But it must be resolved. Since I became a public servant, I’ve followed only three rules: follow the law, be accountable to your people, and be transparent. No shortcuts. That's it.)
And her advice to fellow leaders? “Lessen the greed. Enough.”
