Han Lamarroza is PH bet for Mrs. Asia Pacific 2025 pageant

Mrs. Asia Pacific Global Philippines 2025 Han Lamarroza has left for Singapore to compete in the Mrs. Asia Pacific 2025 beauty pageant.

Before she left for the competition, Han met several members of the pageant press during a media conference where she enthusiastically answered questions on topics ranging from pageantry to current issues.
Media: If you could delete one thing from our world to make it a better place, what would it be?
Han: If I could delete one thing from our world, it would be indifference. When people start caring, injustice grows, inequality deepens, and compassion disappears, but when we choose to care, whether for our community, our environment, or for one another. We create a world where no one is left behind. And even small acts of care can spark extraordinary change.
Media: In your opinion, what makes a person beautiful?
Han: A person becomes wonderful when their character shines brighter than their appearance. Beauty is found in kindness, resilience, and the courage to rise after failure. It is the ability to inspire others through authenticity and compassion. For me, beauty is not just seen...it is felt through the goodness a person shares with the world.
Media: If you were the president of the Philippines, what would you do to corrupt officials?
Han: To those involved in corruption, I would ensure that justice is served, no extensions, no exceptions; every case must be investigated, and every guilty individual must be held accountable because true leadership means protecting the people, not the corrupt.
Media: If you were given the chance to teach children about something, what would it be and why?
Han: I would teach them resilience, because a child who believes in themselves can change their future and even the world.
Media: What qualities do you possess as the next Mrs. Asia Pacific title holder?
Han: I carry the qualities of resilience, purpose, and heart. I’m resilient because life tested me, yet I rise stronger each time. I have a purpose not just to represent beauty, but to inspire courage and hope. And I lead with heart, knowing that true leadership begins with compassion.

Media: Why do you consider yourself an empowered woman?
Han: I consider myself empowered because I choose growth over fear and purpose over perfection. As a mother, professional, and advocate. I use my voice to uplift others, and when a woman empowers others, she becomes unstoppable.
Media: How do you balance humility with the confidence required to compete in a pageant?
Han: I balance confidence and humility by knowing who I am and why I am here. Confidence comes from preparation, and humility from gratitude. And together they let me honor my purpose while carrying the hopes of those who believe in me.
Media: If you could introduce one new category in pageantry, what would it be?
Han: I would introduce a 'community impact challenge' to show how candidates create real change. Pageantry should reflect action, compassion, and leadership because a crown shines brightest when it lights someone else's life.

Dawn Zulueta enjoying her life away from showbiz: 'I am happy'

By Robert Requintina

Undoubtedly, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo possesses one of the most radiant and enchanting faces in Philippine showbiz, capturing the hearts of many. At this moment, she has gracefully stepped away from the spotlight, dedicating her time to the warmth and joys of family life. However, she has not entirely closed the door on her illustrious career, leaving the possibility of a triumphant return to the limelight.

When asked what would encourage her to return to showbiz, Dawn replied, "I think it's a nice project. There have been offers, but no script has really excited me."
It seems that Dawn is currently enjoying her time away from showbiz, bonding with her family, traveling, and exploring new things.
"I'm very happy. I like it. I was able to explore my other interests. I have time with my kids. I have time to travel because my son is studying abroad. So I get to see him and also attend Ayisha (Madlen Lagdameo). I am happy," said Dawn, during the 40th anniversary of Marie France at Uma Nota in BGC,  Taguig City, recently. This is the first time Dawn and her daughter, Ayisha Madlen, have appeared together in an endorsement.
The last time Dawn appeared in a movie was in "Family History" opposite comedian Michael V. in 2019.
Lately, Dawn shared that she and her daughter have become immersed in the vibrant world of K-pop. She said her daughter was six when she fell in love with K-pop. They are both fervent admirers of the electrifying beats and dazzling performances of BTS and Blackpink, reveling in the energy and artistry that these iconic groups bring to the stage.
"Noong time na yun hindi ko pa naiintindihan. Then naging uso na sila with the dances, natuwa ako sa daughter ko and nakisabay talaga ako sa kanya. Before I knew it, nagustuhan ko na rin ang mga K-pop. (At that time, I didn't understand it. Then they became trendy with the dances. I was happy for my daughter, and I really kept up with her. Before I knew it, I also liked K-pop)," Dawn said.
Dawn crossed her fingers that she and her daughter could secure tickets for the BTS concert, tentatively scheduled for March 2026.
“I enjoy K-pop because it brings me back to when I was a teenager. I remember what it was like then, so much energy. And it's their music, the artistry, I think they are killing the choreography. They are so popular, everywhere they go," said Dawn when asked why she loves K-pop.
The teen ballerina also said that she was excited to watch the Blackpink concert in Bulacan last weekend.
"I really love spending time with my mom. She's a fun person to be with. I see her as someone I could talk to about anything. She's a cool mom," said Ayisha.

Responding, Dawn smiled and said, "I try to be cool."
Growing up, Ayisha said she would accompany her mom to shoots. "I thought it was fun. I like watching her act. It inspired me to pursue the arts."
Ayisha mentioned that while showbiz seems exciting, she is more interested in dancing.
"Her priority right now is her studies. But it's up to her what she wants to do after college," the celebrity mom said.
Dawn, now in her 50s, admits she is a strict mom. "Pretty much."
On young men trying to court Ayisha, Dawn laughed and said, "I don't deal with that. Anton (Lagdameo) deals with that. Sa mga manliligaw, si husband ang bahala d'yan. (For suitors, my husband will take care of that.)"
Dawn said she prayed for a daughter who would be interested in dancing like her.
"I've always dreamed of a daughter who could dance. When she was still in my stomach, I was saying, 'I hope she likes to dance the way I want to dance. Fortunately, she does. She's so much better at doing it than I am," she said.
Dawn shared her enjoyment with her daughter on TikTok, although she clarified that she doesn't have an account.
"I want to take this opportunity to let you know that I don't have a TikTok account. Ayisha has an account, but I love the dances on TikTok," she also said.
On aging gracefully, Dawn remarked, "Aging gracefully, I stay away from toxic people or stress. I try to keep my private life really private. I focus on my family. We all know about eating well and drinking water. But I think it's more internal. It's what happens in your mind."

Star Magic's Spotlight Presscon was even more enjoyable with the introduction of the newest girl group, DNA, made up of sisters Ezri, Julia, and Tasha Mitra.

The sibling trio brought a fresh, infectious energy to the event, leaving everyone eager to get to know them better and see what they will contribute to the music scene.
Asked about the meaning behind their group name, the eldest, Ezri, explained, “DNA refers to the genetic kind of DNA, and we chose the name DNA because it represents our bond as sisters. We share the same DNA, music runs in our blood—it’s in our DNA.”
The group who just released their debut single, ‘Don’t Ask Me Why’, under ABS-CBN Music’s Star Pop label, available in all streaming platforms, described their sound as “... very pop, with some influences of R&B—a little bit more dance-pop, upbeat, with some rap and hip-hop influences also.”
Coming from a family of successful and renowned names in the music industry, DNA shared that each of them had their own early realizations about wanting to explore the same path—not a decision set by their parents, but quite the contrary.
Julia, who is the middle child, shared, “I think for all of us, we love performing. Like when we were younger, we would do runways, dance, and sing in different shows, but we never took it seriously. Ayaw talaga nila ni Mommy na mag-showbiz kami, so we found ways to perform na lang in school.”
Tasha, the youngest, added: “They didn’t directly said that they wanted it [for us], but we grew up around our Tita [Regine Velasquez-Alcasid] going to her concert, our dad with the musical arrangement so we’d watch and we’d want that too. They never pushed us to do any of it. It was just natural.”
“You can expect an EP or album around the second quarter next year, and we’re putting a lot of effort into preparing for it, so abangan!”
The group, with infectious energy, playfully exchanged snippets of their exciting plans for the future, illuminating how their branding is intricately woven into the fabric of their sibling bond.
Their distinctive style radiates charisma, while their performances captivate audiences, brimming with authenticity and genuine warmth.
It's truly inspiring to see how they remain grounded despite emerging from a lineage of musical legends, hinting at a bright and enduring career ahead in the competitive industry.
As their journey unfolds, excitement is abundant on the horizon, and the group hopes that more fans will join them, eagerly anticipating the remarkable adventures that lie ahead.

'The Devil Wears Prada 2' unveiled its anticipated first teaser on Wednesday.
Set to the tune of Madonna’s “Vogue,” the teaser gives nothing away in terms of the sequel’s plot, on which 20th Century Studios is still staying mum. It features Anne Hathaway‘s Andy Sachs walking into an elevator after Meryl Streep‘s Miranda Priestly, who tells her, “Took you long enough.”
Following up a beloved 2006 fashion-world dramedy starring Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, all of whom are returning, the sequel is expected to examine high-fashion mag editor-in-chief Priestly’s perspective as she faces the decline of the print industry, according to a report by deadline.com.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name, the original film followed Hathaway’s Andy, a journalism graduate, in her experiences after moving to New York City and starting her demanding job as Priestly’s junior assistant.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is scheduled for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.

As the days draw closer to the dawn of 2026, excitement fills the air for Lorin Gutierrez Bektas. The culmination of years of hard work and determination is finally within reach—she is on the verge of graduating from college.
"I will graduate from university in 2026, and I am extremely excited about that. Making it across that stage and receiving my diploma would be the biggest goal I will meet in 2026," said Lorin during an interview after she was launched as the celebrity endorser for Brilliant Skin Essentials.
Lorin, 22, is currently a senior majoring in Advertising at Pepperdine University, a consistently ranked Christian liberal arts institution in the United States. She divides her time between Malibu and Manila.
"From there, the world is my oyster, as they say, and my goal is to be open-minded and accepting of all the opportunities God sends my way. I want to step out of my comfort zone and say yes to everything. I am most thankful for continued blessings in 2025, from new endorsements to my supportive audience and all the moments in between spent with family and friends," said the eldest daughter of actress Ruffa Gutierrez and businessman Ylmaz Bektas.
Lorin's striking beauty is a legacy passed down from her mother, a former beauty queen whose elegance captivated many. The grace and charm they share are undeniable. I asked Lorin if she ever dreamt of following in her mother’s footsteps and stepping into the glamorous world of pageantry.
"Every little girl dreams, to a certain extent, of being a beauty queen or something similar. I love fashion, beauty, and anything girly, and the Leo in me makes me think it might be a good fit," she said.
Lorin Gutierrez Bektas is introduced as a celebrity endorser for Brilliant Skin Essentials.
Lorin Gutierrez Bektas is introduced as a celebrity endorser for Brilliant Skin Essentials.
However, Lorin feels deep within her heart that the world of pageantry is not meant for her.
"I realized early on that there are many different career paths I can explore, each of which allows me to express myself and my interests in a setting more comfortable for me. My mom gave an iconic performance, and that was her journey, but it is not mine. She was far braver than I could ever be for taking that leap, and I will forever admire her for it. I am more shy and somewhat self-critical, and don't feel drawn to pageantry," she also said.
Lorin often reflected on the countless sacrifices her mother made for her and her younger sister, Venice. With a heart full of gratitude, she cherished the memories of her mom's unwavering support and selflessness, always putting their needs above her own.
"I always say that my mom lights up any room she walks into. As a single working mother who has sacrificed so much to give my sister and me a good life, there is so much I can say, from her resilience to her discipline.
"But, on a happier note, one of my favorite things about her is her infectious joy. It even comes through in her messages; she can text me something and add the cutest string of emoji, and no matter how far I am from her, I can hear it in her voice. Despite all the darkness she has endured in life, she has this unwavering positivity, which is extremely admirable," Lorin added.

Grammy-winning artist Mariah Carey delighted her Filipino fans when she sang "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the first time since its release in 1994 during her one-night-only concert, "Mariah Carey: The Celebration of Mimi," at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Oct. 14.
It marked Mariah's fourth performance in the Philippines, but until now, she had never had the opportunity to sing her biggest Christmas hit.
However, during her latest concert in Manila, Mariah surprised the audience by performing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as her finale song.
Fans erupted with joy as soon as they heard the intro to the beloved Christmas classic—this was the moment every Filipino fan had been eagerly awaiting.
After the festive number, Mariah thanked the audience by saying, 'Thank you! Merry Christmas!' as she left the stage with her backup dancers.
For the past two years, Mariah has fully embraced the joyful tradition of the Philippines, where the festive spirit begins to blossom as soon as the unforgettable BER months roll in.
She has officially encouraged her devoted fans in the Philippines—affectionately known as Lambs—to kick off the holiday season by playing her beloved Christmas songs starting in September.
Biggest Christmas song
"All I Want for Christmas Is You" now holds the record for the biggest Christmas song of all time in terms of sales, streaming, and radio airplay.
In December 2024, the song set a record for holiday music by surpassing two billion streams on Spotify.
Additionally, in early December 2024, the song made a historic return to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, achieving a total of 16 non-consecutive weeks at the top.
By the end of that year, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" became the first holiday song to reach No. 1 for an unprecedented 18 weeks.
Released in 1995, the song written by Mariah and Walter Afanasieff first appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 2000.
After 19 years, the song finally hit No. 1 for the first time in November 2019. The popular tune was lifted from Mariah's Christmas album "Merry Christmas."
Sold-out concert
Mariah, 56, kicked off her sold-out concert in Manila with her song "Type Dangerous," the lead single from her latest album "Here For It All."
Then she followed it with her mega-hits "Emotions," "Can't Let Go," "Vision of Love," "Dreamlover," "Hero," "Without You," "Fantasy," and "Honey."
Surrounded by an ensemble of talented dancers, Mariah often seemed lost in a world of her own, rarely engaging with her fans during intermissions.
Her attention was wholly devoted to the stage, where she poured her heart into every note, captivating the audience with each mesmerizing performance.
Yet, despite the lack of direct interaction, her fans remained unwavering in their devotion, always ready to erupt in applause, celebrating every electrifying moment she delivered.
Every time Mariah gracefully ascends to her stunning five-octave vocal range in her songs, her fans are captivated, their hearts soaring with delight at her extraordinary vocal artistry.
Each note she hits resonates with power and emotion, leaving them mesmerized by the sheer beauty of her talent.
Other Mariah hits in the setlist include "My All," "Always Be My Baby," "I Know What You Want," "Shake It Off," "It's Like That," "We Belong Together," among others.
Karaoke night
Presented by Wilbros Live, the concert had an electrifying atmosphere that resembled a spirited karaoke night, as fans passionately belted out the lyrics to Mariah’s iconic hits, filling the air with joyful melodies.
Thirty-five years after she first dazzled the music world, Mariah still showcases her astonishing vocal prowess, irresistible charm, and an array of timeless songs that resonate deeply with her audience.
It's no wonder that as fans filed out of the concert venue, their faces were illuminated with genuine smiles and a sense of elation that lingered long after the final note had faded.

From left: Ambassador of the National Climate Change Commission Mache Torres-Ackerman, Mutya ng Pilipinas Environment International 2025 Arianna Pantaleon, and Mutya ng Pilipinas President Cory Quirino.
The Philippines is set to unveil the glitz and glamour of the Miss Environment International 2025 beauty pageant, scheduled to take place this November.
The enchanting event promises to be a spectacular showcase of grace and advocacy, drawing participants from around the globe to celebrate both beauty and the urgent need for environmental stewardship.
This was announced by Mache Torres-Ackerman, ambassador of the National Climate Change Commission, during the Kapihan sa Manila Hotel forum held recently. Also at the same event were CCC Commissioner Albert P. Dela Cruz Sr., former Senator Joey Lina, and Manila Bulletin Publisher Sonny Coloma.
"The Miss Environment International 2025 beauty pageant will be held on Nov. 14. We are very proud to be staging the pageant in partnership with the Climate Change Commission (CCC), the United Nations, and other organizations. Mayor Isko Moreno will be one of our co-presenters," said Mache during an interview at the hotel's Roma Salon.
Around 45 candidates from around the world will compete in the contest. Mutya ng Pilipinas Environment International 2025 Arianna Charlize Pantaleon will represent the country in the competition.
"This pageant is not just about beauty. It's advocacy in action. We are more for action. Since it's about the environment and climate change, we are solar-powered. We are out there on the streets doing something for the environment. We are conducting awareness programs. We discuss the current events that we need to be aware of. For one week, the candidates will experience activities with the commission," Mache also said.
Ready for pageant
Arianna said that she's excited for the pageant and to meet her sisters in the competition.
"I'm excited. I have been preparing ever since Mutya ng Pilipinas gave me the title, and it's an amazing opportunity. I'm thankful, and I'm looking forward to the pageant," the Filipino-Canadian beauty queen said.
Arianna, 22, is an advocate for the protection of the environment, sustainability, and now climate change, as well as against domestic violence.
Asked about her simple activities to protect the environment, Arianna said, "For our generation, understanding climate change is crucial. For the simple things, one thing I can do is recycle my clothes. I also walk to many places. I live in Taguig, so it's easy for me to access many places without needing to take a Grab or drive everywhere. Walking is one way to help preserve our environment."
Arianna also believes that beauty pageants remain relevant because many beauty queens are actively involved in their communities, raising awareness about various issues and constantly contributing to environmental causes.
Born and raised in Canada, Arianna has a degree in public speaking and communications. "Now, I am in the Philippines, pursuing my dream of becoming a beauty queen and using my voice to spread awareness about the causes I advocate for."
Back-to-back victory?
Mutya ng Pilipinas President Cory Quirino shared her excitement about staging the Miss Environment International 2025 in Manila.
"When Mache Torres decided to hold Miss Environment International in the Philippines, I was very happy. She would take it to the next level.
"It's about time for the world to have a pageant that embraces the environment seriously and passionately. This is the start. We are pleased that Arianna Pantaleon, our Mutya ng Pilipinas Environment International, will represent the Philippines in the pageant in November," Cory added.
Should Arianna win, it's going to be a back-to-back victory for the Philippines. "It's been done in other pageants, why not this year?"
Cory said there will be a swimsuit competition, but it's nature-based and environmentally friendly.
Personal advocacy
Cory revealed that she was supposed to have retired from the pageant world a few years ago, but postponed it.
"I have planned to retire in 2016 after Miss World. To win a crown as prestigious as Miss World, it took a lot of my energy. I put my all into it. Since we almost won the crown in 2016, with Catriona Gray, I just felt that it was time for me to relax and rest, but I was rather pleased when Catriona won Miss Universe.
"That time I was in retirement. So, when I was offered the opportunity to be the president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, I actually said no. But when the chairman said to me, 'How can you say no to the ladies who need to be discovered and trained by you?' That I could not say no to.
"So it's a personal advocacy to help Filipinas be discovered, to have a big break in life, and to be a positive influence in their lives eventually. That's why I'm back in beauty pageants," Cory said.
Cory also believes there is hope for the Miss Environment International 2025 beauty pageant because the CCC and other local groups have taken an interest in it. She also admired the girls who were competing in pageants.
"The girls in pageants these days are vigilant and aware. They want to do something with their lives. It has to be something relevant and credible. They want to be real. You can see that pageants have become increasingly reality-based in recent years. This is the way to go. This is not a journey for the crown but also a journey towards one's individuality, position, and purpose in life.
"Pageantry has now become competitive. You have to prepare. If you feel ready and want to pursue a pageant, consider joining one. But if you're half-hearted about it, you're not prepared," Cory also said.
Cory also shared her message to pageant fans who have been supportive of her. "You know me. I don't do anything without a 100 percent commitment of my heart. Be sure that whatever I do, it's not just for me, but also for you. To give your life more meaning and entertainment. Whatever I handle, I handle it 101 percent."

Actress and beauty queen Charo Laude, national director of Mrs. Universe Philippines, has announced that 127 candidates are expected to compete in the 2025 Mrs. Universe pageant, which will be held at Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Oct. 7.
"There are 127 candidates expected to join the competition. Last 2023, I also hosted the international pageant. There were 100 delegates. However, this year we are expecting no more than 130 candidates," said Charo during a media conference at Simon's Place in Quezon City recently.
Charo added, "It's not a joke. It's a significant preparation effort, so we're reviewing the logistics and security of the candidates. There's pressure, but it's also challenging. Hosting the international event for the second time, I can say it's a big opportunity to showcase the best of the Philippines. I am honored to be trusted to host the event. I am happy that the organizers are at home in the Philippines."
Additionally, Charo stated that she is excited to showcase the beauty of the Philippines to foreign delegates.
"The Philippines is not just home to a beautiful culture. But the most important part for me is for them to know the beauty of Filipinos inside and out. The Philippines is known for being hospitable, so that's important to me. We welcome foreign visitors," Charo said.
The pre-pageant activities for the Mrs. Universe 2025 pageant will kick off on Oct. 1. "We will visit some of the beautiful places in the Philippines." The grand coronation will be held at Okada Manila on Oct. 7.
During the pageant, the delegates will compete in national costume, evening gown, and forum. "We don't have the swimsuit segment."
On why it's necessary to stage a pageant for married women, Charo said, "Women of today gain more learning than before. I think many women have unfinished missions in life. Many of them want to become beauty queens. I'm thankful for Mrs. Universe, which encourages women to showcase not only their beauty and talent but also share stories that inspire people. Their stories are their power."
Charo said that the main advocacy of the Mrs Universe pageant is prevention against domestic violence. They are empowered women when it comes to their families and careers, she also said.

The three beauty queens who will represent the Philippines at the Mrs. Universe pageant are Mrs. Universe Philippines Western Philippines 2025 Angelica Villanueva, Mrs. Universe Pacific Philippines 2025 Jenny Mercado Ortega, and Mrs. North Philippines 2025 Susan Chin.
Angela is a proud mother, grandmother, and empowered businesswoman. "My life is a blend of family, enterprise, and a deep-seated love for the Philippines. I run a thriving petroleum business and a new pastry shop in South Cotabato, where I pour my heart into crafting croissants that can rival the patisseries of Paris."
Jenny is a modern Renaissance woman, a Filipina who has successfully combined art, fashion, business, and service to others. A graduate of architecture from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Jenny expanded her talent and creative vision beyond buildings and design into the broader realm of visual and fashion arts. She founded Art Jenerations Studio, where she creates colorful and meaningful works, from paintings to couture gowns that carry messages of empowerment
Susan is an entrepreneur, influencer, and a fashion model. "My journey has been filled with painful experiences, but through it all, I have seen God's hand at work. One of my dreams is to be a blessing to many people, to show them that there is a loving God who gives life and abundance. He is not an angry God but a compassionate one. God promises never to fail those who believe and have faith in Him."
Charo also shared her advice to the three women representing the Philippines in the contest.
"I always tell them the crown is just a crown, but the most important part of being a beauty queen is your heart. You're the leader, the voice, and the inspiration of many women.
"Win or lose, you must never forget your role as a beauty queen: you can be a good mother to your children or the mother to everyone. You can also be a sister to all the women around the world," Charo said.
