LPA continues to bring rain over Caraga, Davao but fair weather forecast in most of PH

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday that the low pressure area (LPA), formerly Tropical Storm "Queenie" continues to bring rain and thunderstorms over the Caraga and Davao Regions over the last 24 hours.

Weather forecaster Daniel James Villamil said the LPA was last spotted some 140 kilometers southeast of Davao City.

The weather disturbance is bringing rain and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather can be experienced over the next 24 hours in most parts of the country, the Pagasa forecaster said.

He said Pagasa has not monitored any other weather disturbances that may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until the weekend.

The state-run weather agency said localized thunderstorms are affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may be experienced

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday morning, Oct. 10, said that the low pressure area (LPA) inside the country’s area of responsibility may develop into a tropical depression within 48 hours.

The next tropical cyclone name on PAGASA’s list is Maymay.

In its 6 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said the LPA was last seen 450 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City.

It said that the LPA, together with the shear line, will bring moderate to heavy rains over Cagayan, while Batanes, northern portion of Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, and Ilocos Norte will have light to heavy rains.

“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Moreover, weather specialist Obet Badrina said PAGASA is also monitoring another LPA outside the country’s area of responsibility.

As of Monday morning, the LPA was located 1,880 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas and has no direct effect yet on the country.

LPA east of Central Luzon now tropical depression Karding

The low pressure area (LPA) east of Central Luzon has developed into tropical depression Karding, the 11th tropical cyclone to enter and form in the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in 2022.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather disturbance developed at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. Bulletins for this tropical cyclone will be issued beginning Thursday at 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, apart from Karding, the southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” is also being monitored. This weather system, according to PAGASA, may bring partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in various parts of the country. In a public weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said that the southwest monsoon will particularly affect the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon in the next 24 hours.

LPA, ITCZ to bring rains over most of Mindanao – PAGASA

Residents of Caraga, Davao Region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and SOCCSKSARGEN may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to the low pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), said the state weather bureau on Thursday, May 12.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the LPA was last spotted 490 kilometers (km) east of Davao City. It is embedded along the ITCZ affecting Mindanao.

“Ayon sa ating latest analysis ay mababa ‘yung tiyansa nito na maging bagyo ngunit continuous monitoring pa rin tayo. Ngayong araw ay nakikita po natin na magdudulot ang LPA at ITCZ na ito ng mga pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng Mindanao (Based on our latest analysis, this weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, however we will be monitoring it continuously. Today, this LPA and ITCZ may bring rains in most parts of Mindanao),” said PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda in a public weather forecast.

Meanwhile, generally fair weather with a slight chance of isolated rains may prevail in most of Luzon, including Metro Manila.

Due to the expected prevalence of hot and humid weather, residents were advised to avoid direct exposure to sunlight in order to prevent heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke.

No gale warning is issued over the country’s seaboards. Fisherfolk and seafarers are free to sail, added Castañeda.

LPA off east of Mindanao develops into tropical depression

THE low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has now developed into a Tropical Depression (TD).

Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Tropical Cyclone Advisory Number One issued at 11 a.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021, the center of the tropical depression was located at 2.095 kilometers east of Mindanao.

The tropical depression is expected to enter the PAR on Tuesday, December 14, and will be named “TD Odette.”

Due to favorable environmental conditions, the tropical cyclone will likely continue to intensify and may reach the Typhoon Category with a maximum sustained wind of 120 kilometers per hour.

According to the forecast of Pagasa, by the evening of December 15 or the morning of December 16, the tropical cyclone will begin to move westward and may make landfall over the Eastern Visayas-Caraga area.

The highest possible wind signal that may be hoisted for this tropical cyclone is Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number Four.

Low Pressure Area Spotted Off Batanes

MANILA, Philippines – The state weather bureau is keeping a close eye on a low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 4 a.m. Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low pressure area was located at 350 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes. 

The state weather bureau, meanwhile, warned the public of southwest monsoon affecting Luzon and Western Visayas. 

In its Saturday forecast, PAGASA said there will be moonsoon rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. 

"Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country," PAGASA said.
