The zombie thriller stars Jun Ji-hyun, also known as Gianna Jun, and Ji Chang-wook, and marks Yeon’s latest big-screen project following the global success of “Train to Busan.”

“Colony” follows survivors trapped inside a building amid a rapidly evolving zombie outbreak, blending large-scale action, suspense, and emotional survival drama.

Viewers praised its intense action scenes, tense atmosphere, and fresh take on the zombie genre.

Note that the film has also been dominating overseas markets.

Data from the Korean Film Council showed that “Colony” surpassed 1 million moviegoers in South Korea in less than four days, becoming the fastest Korean film released in 2026 to reach the milestone. The movie later crossed the 2-million-viewer mark within just five days of release.

Industry trackers likewise reported that “Colony” posted the highest opening score among Korean releases this year.

The film has yet to open widely in the United States, where it is scheduled for theatrical release through Well Go USA on Aug. 28.

It has also secured a North American premiere slot at the 2026 New York Asian Film Festival, further boosting international buzz surrounding the movie.

With strong word-of-mouth and growing audience interest, the film is expected to sustain its momentum at the Philippine box office in the coming days.
