El Niรฑo is developing in the Pacific Ocean ๐ณ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐๐๐น๐ ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, now likely to emerge next month, according to the newly released update from NOAA Climate Prediction Center.
The latest forecast also raises the possibility that it could intensify into a rare and historically powerful “Super” (Very Strong) El Niรฑo by end of 2026.
For the Philippines, this developing El Niรฑo could trigger a more intense #habagat season by June-July before we shift into drier conditions as early as August or September.
The "peak" effects of this El Niรฑo will likely be from January to June 2027, marked by severe drought and extreme heat, which could trigger widespread water and electricity shortage during the Tag-init Season.
