Thick ashfall and vehicles covered in ash can be seen in photos shared by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), which is on the ground to assist affected residents in Camalig, Guinobatan, Legazpi City and Daraga amid the ongoing activity of Mayon Volcano.
The PRC is currently on high alert following the recorded minor Strombolian activity and lava collapse at the volcano that generated rockfalls and ashfall in nearby areas.
The Philippine Red Cross, meanwhile, advises all residents in affected communities to remain on high alert, avoid entering identified danger zones, especially near gullies and river channels where rapid flow of hot gas and debris may occur.
In case of ashfall, stay indoors, use protective masks and ensure that food and water supplies are covered to avoid contamination.
