Beabadoobee kicks off 'Pylon' era with new single 'Sun Has Set'

Filipino-British singer-songwriter Beabadoobee has just dropped a new single titled "Sun Has Set" as accompanied by a music video that begins like a revenge fantasy before taking an unexpectedly relatable turn.

Shot from a first-person perspective, the video shows Beabadoobee confronting and beating someone up, only to suddenly grow tired halfway through and curl up for a nap. It's funny, slightly absurd, and somehow perfectly captures the emotional exhaustion that often follows anger.

In a statement, Beabadoobee described "Sun Has Set" as a song fueled by "petty tunnel vision."

"It's like, I hate you. You're gonna stay here and listen to how much I hate you. Because I never got to say that," she said.

"Sun Has Set" is the lead single from Beabadoobee's fifth studio album, "Pylon," which arrives on September 18 via Dirty Hit.

The release marks another milestone in one of alternative music's most compelling success stories.

Born Beatrice Laus, Beabadoobee first built an audience online with intimate bedroom recordings before breaking into indie rock's upper ranks with songs like "Coffee," "Care," "Glue Song," and "Real Man."

Her blend of soft-spoken vulnerability, fuzzy guitars, and '90s alternative influences has made her one of the defining voices of a new generation of indie artists, while her Filipino heritage has earned her a particularly devoted following around these parts.

"Pylon" reportedly draws from grunge, Midwest emo, and the kind of '90s alternative rock that once dominated radio, pointing to a heavier, more guitar-driven sound than some of her previous releases.
