FASHION PULIS: Negativity galore

Published Jul 25, 2026 11:54 am
Over the past few weeks, Talented Actress (TA) has been the subject of numerous negative write-ups.
Looking back, TA's career began amid controversy, one that was never acknowledged by the alleged culprit or her home studio. Nonetheless, the issue prompted TA to transfer to another network.

Years later, TA steadily climbed the ladder of success. In her new home, she got the breaks she needed and eventually became a household name. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships as her popularity grew. She was also given opportunities to showcase her talents, proving she was much more than just a pretty face.

As she navigated life's twists and turns, TA found love and even considered leaving everything behind for the sake of the right person. Sadly, she was not destined to settle down, and she eventually decided to come home. Opportunities still awaited her, but things may have changed.

While working on a recent project, a Co-Actor (CA) reportedly felt he had become the target of TA's wrath. Rumors claimed that TA had complained about CA's behavior on the set. He chose not to retaliate. Soon after, TA was accused of throwing her weight around during production and was linked to issues involving a new actress.

Worse, TA is now being dragged into speculation surrounding an alleged falling-out with a Close Friend (CF). According to rumors, TA simply could not keep her mouth shut.

"It was not her story to tell," sources claimed. But she allegedly shared it anyway, and the incident supposedly damaged her relationship with CF.

Nonchalant acceptance

When a group of netizens decided to have a meal at a restaurant in an upscale mall, little did they know they were about to witness a memorable encounter with Ageless Actress (AA). The friends had planned a quiet get-together, but their lunch was interrupted by AA's animated conversation with her amigas.

Without intending to eavesdrop, the group could not help overhearing AA, who spoke as though no one else was around. The topic happened to be both relevant and timely. AA was discussing the ongoing flood control controversy. Having lived through several Philippine administrations and mingled with politicians from across the political spectrum, AA certainly had plenty to say.

AA admitted she could not understand why the flood control issue was causing such an uproar, saying corruption had always been part of previous administrations. To her, it seemed like a normal part of governance. She even mentioned hearing about government friends taking frequent vacations to various destinations. Surely, AA was not merely speaking from hearsay, as her family has long maintained influential connections. AA herself also moved within powerful circles, especially since a former lover was known to be close to those in power.

The unexpected conversation disappointed the netizens, who felt AA came across as a passive enabler in the face of continuing corruption.

  • Jo Koy and Nicole Scherzinger have been named to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2027, adding to the excitement ahead of Lea Salonga's historic star ceremony this September and highlighting a milestone era for Filipino representation.

The excitement surrounding Lea Salonga's upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony just got even bigger.

Weeks after it was confirmed that the Broadway legend will become the first full-blooded Filipina to receive a star on the famed Hollywood Boulevard on Sept. 4, two more entertainers with Filipino roots, comedian Jo Koy and singer-actress Nicole Scherzinger, have been named to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2027.

Within a little over a year, three entertainers of Filipino descent have been selected for one of entertainment's most recognizable public honors.
Taken together, the announcements mark one of the strongest periods of Filipino representation in the landmark's history.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the 32-member Class of 2027 on Thursday during a news conference at Funko Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard.

"The Walk of Fame Selection Committee is proud to welcome the Class of 2027 to one of the most enduring symbols of achievement in entertainment," committee chairman Peter Roth said. "These extraordinary individuals have each made a lasting impact on audiences around the world through their talent, creativity and dedication to their craft."

Jo Koy and Scherzinger will both be honored in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category alongside acclaimed Italian ballet dancer Roberto Bolle.

Their selection continues the growing presence of Filipino names on one of Hollywood's most famous sidewalks.

Before Salonga's selection in 2025, the Walk of Fame had already honored Bruno Mars, Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap and actor Rob Schneider, each reflecting the increasing impact of artists with Filipino heritage on the global entertainment industry.

For Filipinos, every new addition carries significance beyond individual achievement. Each star serves as a permanent reminder of the growing influence of Filipino artists on the world stage, especially in an industry where Asian representation has historically been limited.

Established in 1960, the Hollywood Walk of Fame remains one of the entertainment industry's most enduring symbols of success. More than 2,800 terrazzo-and-brass stars now line Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, recognizing outstanding contributions to motion pictures, television, recording, radio, live theatre/live performance and sports entertainment.

Unlike traditional awards, a Walk of Fame star is earned through a nomination and selection process. Nominations may be submitted by fans, organizations, studios, record labels and other representatives before being reviewed by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee. Honorees must have at least five years of professional achievement in their field, demonstrate charitable or community involvement, and commit to attending their unveiling ceremony.

Scherzinger first rose to international fame as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls before establishing herself as a solo artist, television personality and acclaimed stage performer. Her recent work in "Sunset Boulevard" has earned widespread critical praise.

Jo Koy, meanwhile, has become one of the world's top stand-up comedians by turning stories about his Filipino family, particularly his mother, into relatable routines that have introduced Filipino culture to audiences around the globe.

The Class of 2027 also includes Pedro Pascal, Lisa Kudrow, Idris Elba, Kate Hudson, Adam Scott, Karol G, Sia, Linkin Park, Lil Wayne and former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson.

As for Salonga, her Sept. 4 ceremony is shaping up to be another milestone not only for her celebrated career but also for Filipino representation in Hollywood.

Best known for originating the role of Kim in "Miss Saigon," winning a Tony Award, and providing the singing voices of Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan, Salonga has long been regarded as one of the Philippines' most accomplished performers on the world stage.Powered by
