Why Is The Search For Peace So Difficult?

How can peace be elusive as its is seemingly now when all you hear these days are clarion calls for stable peace down to dawn in Mindanao? Towards the end of Ramadan there pervades an aura of reconciliatory vibes and forgiveness. The yearning for peace is felt from east to west and from north to south. Despite all these we ask in desperation, "Why is the search of peace such a difficult task?"

If a cease fire agreement can be sustained, then why cannot a permanent truce be attained? What does it take for protagonists to yield to the deafening call of the overwhelming majority for the forces to lay down heir arms and silenced these forever? There is so much land to share, so much resources to develop, the seas are so rich with a cornucopia of marine wealth. But the opportunity to make these resources productive is lost in the futile struggle for an independent state that stirs apprehension among those who abhors it. That is why the partnerships and joint ventures among Filipinino Muslims, Lumads and Christians is so extremely difficult to attain because that struggle comes in the way to reconciliation, trust, unity and peace.

... .

When can we talk and talk and laugh and share our sorrows and joys without (?) having to ask what our religious faiths are, our ranks and station in life like children who harbor no hatred but only genuine friendship and love?

Rewind With More Classical Music

After some very busy days, including today, I need to take time out in between my tasks. Of course, you know me already: I am doing this with music. I found two more classical composers in my music library:

(Emil Nikolaus von Reznicek)

(Eugen d'Albert)

More about them and their music is here:

Proud Pinay Singer

London-based Filipina singer Cherrie Anderson said, she and her band Ooberfuse were happy with reception they got from the crowd during their performance in Spain.

I like especially Cherrie's song "Faith in You", composed by herself, the band's Filipina lead singer and songwriter.

More Dengue Cases in Region XII in Mindanao

(From MindaNews)

The Department of Health in Region 12 or Southwestern Mindanao is closely watching at least five villages in General Santos City and nearby Polomolok town in South Cotabato due to the noted clustering of dengue cases since last month.

Dr. Abdullah Dumama, DOH Region 12 director said Thursday their latest monitoring showed that an average of three or more cases of dengue infections have emerged during the last four weeks in Labangal, Lagao and San Isidro aas well as in Poblacion and Cannery Site in Polomolok.

Region 12 covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santps, Koronadal, Cotabato, Tacurong and Kidapawan.

In South Cotabato health personnel have been conducting house-to-house campaigns to promote the 4-S strategy:

- Search and destroy,
- Self-protection measures,
- Seek early consultation,

A New Adventure? Yes....? BUT!

It has been one of my favourite places in Mindanao. Just after couple after hours, when I left this place rushing home I got the sad message, that three miners have been killed due a landslide.

I kept on visiting those areas since my first visit in 1982. I kept on archiving video shots of people being happy and "out of breath" discovering milligrams of "certain gold".

Sad to say, another landslide happened now (while writing this post)! in the Province of Sitio Tagurong, New Bataan, Compostella Valley.
