This would be Madayag first international stint, where she is expected to debut for Kurobe  on Oct. 13 when the team battles the SAGA Hisamitsu Springs at the start of the Japan SV. League 2024-25 season.

The development would also mean that the 5-foot-11 middle blocker will miss the All-Filipino Conference for the Flying Titans.

Choco Mucho expressed its support for Madayag, who won Best Middle Blocker in the 2018 and 2024 PVL All-Filipino.

“We're incredibly proud of you, Maddie, for seizing this amazing opportunity in your career. Your Choco Mucho Flying Titans fam is with you every step of the way,” said the team in a statement.

“We can't wait to welcome you back stronger than ever!” the statement added.

Other Filipinos who are competing in Japan are Jia De Guzman for Denso Airybees and Jaja Santiago for Osaka Marvelous.

The Aqua Fairies placed 11th out of the 12 teams last season in the then-V.League Division 1.

Sung in both English and Tagalog, "Sana" speaks to the universal longing for second chances and the enduring power of love. A rapturous R&B-tinged ode to her parents, the song was announced on her father’s birthday and came out on her mother’s birthday.

Dripping with bittersweet authenticity and questioning what it means to move through the conflicting feelings of longing, hopefulness, and heartbreak, Kiana V sings, ““So I’ma dip /Shoulda known / You could stay / I’ma go / We’ve doing it your way for too long”.

With her crooning soul stylings, honey-smooth vocals, and the effortless weaving of Tagalog with English, Kiana V simultaneously stays true to her roots. She reaches new heights, transcending boundaries and making us melt with the push-and-pull of yearning for that true love that got away.

““Sana” is a song for and about all the ones that got away," Kiana said. "It’s about acknowledging that you wouldn’t change the past, but you can’t bring this person with you into the future.”

Kiana is working on a full-length project set to drop in early 2025.

Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose - the influencer-girlfriend of Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo - doused rumors that she will enter showbiz. Instead, she revealed that she's set to leave for her native Melbourne, Australia, in a few months and that Carlos is going with her.

At first, Chloe said she was returning to Australia: "Uuwi na din po. Soon. In a few months. Marami pa kaming schedule dito sa Philippines eh." (I am going home soon, in a few months. We still have a lot of schedules in the Philippines.)

Then, she was asked by Manila Bulletin if it will still be a long-distance relationship, and she quickly replied while laughing: "Ah, hindi po. Sasama na sya sa akin." (No. He will go with me.)

When queried when they're going back to the Philippines after their trip Down Under, she added: "I don't know yet. Sobrang daming nangyari po." (A lot of things happened.)

Earlier, Cristy Fermin in her Youtube show, quoted a source who reportedly said that Chloe and the two-time Olympic gold medalist are getting married in Melbourne where Chloe and her family are based.

The celebrity Gen Z couple became a trending topic recently because of the reported rift with Carlos' mom, Angelica Yulo. After arriving from his triumphant stint in the Paris Olympics, Carlos posted a clarificatory statement on his Tiktok account where he came to the defense of his girlfriend and explained the reasons for the gap with his mother, one of them concerning money. The post now has close to 26 million views.

Chloe was one of the VIP guests who attended the launch of Real Perfection skincare at the Grand Hyatt Manila with Kapamilya actress Francine Diaz as its celebrity endorser and actress-singer Karel Marquez as the brand's external affairs representative.

Chloe revealed that she was also part of Real Perfection Philippines and shared her beauty routine which consists of "cleansing balm, cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer and of course, sunscreen. Very straightforward."

When asked what makes her feel beautiful, the 22-year old Chloe gushed: "Early in the morning when Caloy, si mahal ko, says that 'oh you're so pretty! kahit buhaghag pa ang hair ko, I don't have any makeup on, anything, ganyan...he still tells me I'm pretty so that makes me feel beautiful also. "

(Caloy says I'm pretty early in the morning even if my hair is in disarray and I don't have my make-up on.)

Chloe also took the time to advise people in a relationship with athletes.

"Be very patient and understanding sa ginagawa nila. It's not easy at all. As it seems, sa ginagawa nila on TV, it's not easy. And there's so much that's happening behind the camera. So you really have to be understanding and patient."

The model-influencer was also in the news recently because a producer was reportedly interested in getting her for the movies. Unbeknownst to many, Chloe also has a music channel on YouTube, which was launched even before she met Carlos. It presently has 483,000 subscribers.

When asked if she was interested in joining showbiz, Chloe reacted negatively: "Ah,no, no, no showbiz for me po. I'll keep on creating content." She added that Carlos has nothing to do with her decision because he is "very supportive" of everything she does.

Regional court managers will facilitate real-time delivery of justice — Supreme Court

BY MANILA BULLETIN

E CARTOON AUG 27, 2024 (1).jpg

Seeking to speed up the delivery of justice, the Supreme Court has established an Office of the Regional Court Manager (ORCM) in Davao City, Angeles City, Mandaue City, and most recently in San Fernando City, La Union to serve the Davao Region, Central Luzon, Central Visayas, the Ilocos Region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, respectively. According to Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, the setting up of ORCMs in the Judicial Regions will allow judges “to focus more on their primary duty of adjudication.”

In line with the objectives of the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovation (SPJI) 2022-2027, an Office of the Regional Court Manager will be established in all Judicial Regions in order to decentralize and improve the delivery of administrative services to about 2,720 first and second level courts – from municipal to regional trial courts.

In the legacy structure, these courts were supervised centrally from the Supreme Court in Manila by the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) through the Executive Judges. Through the ORCM, “the OCA will devolve some of its key functions to the regional court managers, who will be directly communicating with the court branches within the region, and vice-versa.” Moreover, the ORCM “will be given the authority to sign off on administrative and fiscal matters and to deliver multiple services directly to the courts.”

Chief Justice Gesmundo also pointed out that the High Court is promoting and accelerating the use of technology to ensure that the benefits of improved, real-time delivery of justice will be experienced by the citizenry at the grassroots level. He said that it was imperative to “eradicate the administrative delays and inefficiencies that add to the worries and concerns of our trial court judges...(such as inefficiency in) procurement, from much-delayed initial salaries to belated funds disbursements and releases, from late issuance of travel authorities to delayed action on request for additional personnel.”

He expressed the SC’s gratitude to its development partner, the European Union-Governance in Justice (GOJUST II) program, for its support in the ORCM project.

The Office of the Court Administrator, which has borne the brunt of overseeing the supervision of the first- and second-level courts for more than four decades, will now be “re-purposed and re-directed,” according to its head, Court Administrator Raul Villanueva. He emphasized: “The time has come for us to make a paradigm shift or a mindset change towards a more decentralized system of providing the administrative necessities of our trial courts.”

Judicial reform is a long-term process that requires sustained support and commitment from all vital stakeholders, especially the government and the citizenry. As noted in an Asian Development Bank report, the justice sector is “one of the most complex sectors, making consensus building among different stakeholders—mainly constitutional bodies—unstable and difficult.” Aside from capacity-building and institutional development, it is imperative that “policy improvement to ensure sustainability” is undertaken with a sense of urgency.

Broad-based awareness and support from a more enlightened citizenry will make a crucial difference.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, the 21-year-old Finnegan competed in the women’s artistic gymnastics event of the 2024 Paris Games earlier this month, representing her mom Linabelle's roots, the Philippines which participated in its 100th year in the quadrennial meet.

“We're thrilled to celebrate Aleah Finnegan as our Children's Mercy Kansas City Sportswoman of the Year!” KCS wrote in its social media post.

“A powerhouse on the mat, Aleah helped lead LSU to their first National Championship, won the 2024 NCAA floor exercise title, and represented the Philippines at the 2024 Summer Olympics,” it added.

“Congrats, Aleah, on all your incredible achievements!”

The Pan Am and SEAG champion had historic qualification last October, which was followed by her teammates Levi Jung-Ruivivar and Emma Malabuyo this year, breaking the 60-year drought of female gymnasts in the grandest sporting stage.

The Filipina trio, however, came up short in entering to the finals of their respective apparatuses.

American footballer Travis Kelce and his coach Steve Spagnuolo of the Kansas City Chiefs, who copped their second straight Super Bowl win in the National Football League (NFL), were also honored.

Kyline Alcantara is in her unbothered era.

It seems that she just couldn't care less as to how people see her nowadays.

Note that the Kapuso actress is being romantically linked to basketball player Kobe Paras.

It all started with them being sighted together and repeatedly so.

Just recently a video of them seemingly being cozy made it to Tiktok.

In it, Kobe is seen singing, while Kyline enjoys herself sitting on his lap.

The sweetness between the two is evident.

At one point, Kobe was seen kissing Kyline's shoulder.

Kyline was asked about it in an interview with Lhar Santiago for "24 Oras."

She said, "I feel like it’s my right to not answer or to answer questions…to deny nor confirm anything."

Making herself clear, she added, "I don’t need to explain myself din naman po to other people. Whatever they see is that’s what they’re gonna get."

"As long as alam ng pamilya ko at yung mga close kong mga kaibigan, my loved ones, what’s really happening behind cameras…I feel like I don’t owe the public any explanation naman po" Kyline continued.

‘PM is the key’: CIA with BA warns against buying items online without prices

Have you ever encountered the phrase “PM is the key” when browsing for items online? Heads up—this practice is not allowed!

This was made clear in the recent episode of the public service program ‘CIA with BA,’ aired on Sunday, Aug. 25, where Queen Manilyn of the Mariteam voiced her concerns.

“Tumitingin po ako ng mamahaling bag sa online shop tapos nakita ko walang nakasaad na presyo, tapos nakalagay lang do’n sa page nila, ‘PM is the key.’ Pwede po ba ‘yon?” she asked during the ‘Yes or No’ segment.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano responded directly with a firm “No.”

“Alam mo, nagulat din ako dyan. Ako mahilig ako sa collectibles—basketball cards, jerseys, figurines. Matingin din ako sa internet,” he shared.

He explained that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 11967, or the Internet Transactions Act, in December 2023. This law enforces the state’s policy to promote and maintain a robust e-commerce environment in the Philippines by building trust between online merchants and consumers.

“Very specific ‘yon [na] sa internet, kailangan ng presyo. So pati sa Consumer Act, nakalagay din do’n na ‘pag ikaw [ay] nagbebenta, dapat merong price ‘yon,” he emphasized.

Senator Cayetano also pointed out that many online sellers might need to be made aware of this requirement or might have reasons for not displaying prices, such as avoiding price canvassing or filtering for serious buyers only. However, he stressed that the law “is meant to protect everyone, and kailangan talaga merong presyo.”

As online shopping grows, sellers and consumers must be aware of their rights and responsibilities. Using "PM is the key" might seem convenient for some sellers, but it goes against legal requirements designed to ensure transparency and protect consumers.

‘CIA with BA’ continues the legacy of the late Senator Rene Cayetano and airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.

What is the reason behind Germans' love for currywurst?

Volker Eichener
 ·
Following
How would you describe its taste? Is it comparable to American hot dogs or sausages with mustard and ketchup?

First, it is most often eaten as a quick and inexpensive snack, not as a full meal. You usually get it from a street stand. Insofar, there is a parallel with hot dogs.

The taste is different, however.

The sausage is a bratwurst, not a frankfurter. It is seared or grilled, so it has a neat crust. The sauce is based on ketchup, but it is more flavourful, because it has curry powder in it or at least curry powder sprinkled on top. The better versions of Currywurst are served with warm sauce. Sometimes, you can get Currywurst which is spiced up with hot chili.

Typical way to eat Currywurst

One of the most popular Currywurst stands in Berlin

Currywurst with french fries and mayonnaise

American hot dogs (usually Danish style) are also known in Germany, but not as popular as Currywurst. Hot dogs are messy to eat and they are considered rather bland in comparison to Currywurst which is a warming comfort food.

THE POWER OF MOMENTS

In their book "The Power of Moments," authors Chip Heath and Dan Heath study the science behind these pivotal moments and the reasons why they have such a profound effect on our lives. They point out that defining moments are made up of four essential components: elevation, understanding, pride, and connection.

A quiet morning. I love it. How about you?

A hug from someone you love. I am sure you feel the same.

Sipping a warm cup of coffee or tea. Of course, I prefer coffee more than tea.

Reading a few pages in one of those good books on your bookshelf. I miss reading many more.

A child's laughter. My one-year-old grandchild is the best example.

Someone special wanting your attention. I am already 71, but it's always amazing how many people wait for me every morning.

What do you say is the best moment in life? - “That was my happiest moment” is better usage. It means to say that you enjoyed that mentioned moment, very much. It is one which makes you happy and cannot be forgotten in your life. What was that "one big moment," a turning point, that changed your life?

Special moments; breath-taking feats, outstanding accomplishments, universally recognised excellence. The moments that matter happen beyond analysis; they just occur. Special moments are everywhere, always; millions of them waiting to happen – and the more you let go, the less you look, the more you see.

Moments are significant as they help us connect with others. Every shared moment, whether it's a conversation, a hug, or an experience, presents an opportunity to form a bond with another person. These bonds are what make life meaningful and help us endure challenging times.
