  • Filipino comedian Ate Gay, whose real name was Gil Aducal Morales, dies after battling stage 4 cancer. His family asks for prayers as they mourn his passing.
Comedian Ate Gay, real name Gil Aducal Morales, has died, his family announced Sunday, November 1.
Morales passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, according to a family statement. His relatives also thanked those who offered prayers, financial assistance and emotional support during his illness.
The family said it was grateful for the outpouring of kindness throughout the comedian’s health struggles and asked the public to continue praying for his eternal repose and for comfort for those he left behind.
Details of his wake and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Morales had publicly disclosed in September 2025 that he was battling stage 4 cancer, sharing his desire to continue living as he sought support from the public.
His condition took a critical turn on October 30, when he suffered a stroke affecting the right side of his brain. He was subsequently diagnosed with septic shock and acute respiratory failure linked to pneumonia.
In October, the comedian also held a “living funeral,” allowing family and friends to gather and pay tribute to him while he was still alive.
