El Niño increases the likelihood of rainfall deficits, which may result in dry spells and drought in several areas of the country. However, above-normal rainfall conditions may still occur due to the passage of tropical cyclones and other rain-bearing weather systems.
Based on the latest drought assessment, five (5) provinces experienced meteorological drought, eleven (11) provinces were under dry spell, and ten (10) provinces experienced dry conditions in October 2026.
