The announcement was made by the Miss Côte d’Ivoire Committee on social media. Olivia explained her decision to step down in an Instagram post. It read:
Olivia, one of the frontrunners in the 74th Miss Universe Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand, will formally hand over her Africa and Oceania banner to the Miss Universe Organization.
The beauty queen from Côte d'Ivoire won fourth runner-up in the competition last Nov. 21.

For the past weeks, the Miss Universe pageant was rocked with controversies, including the walkout of some candidates during the sashing ceremony and the resignation of some judges.
