THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Good old days – commonly stylized as "good ol' days" – is a cliché in popular culture used to reference a time considered by the speaker to be better than the current era. It is a form of nostalgia that can reflect homesickness or yearning for long-gone moments.

Is it correct to say "good old days"? If you talk about the good old days, you mean a time in the past when you believed life was better: I wish my grandma would stop going on about the good old days.

Some common synonyms of reminisce are recall, recollect, remember, and remind. While all these words mean "to bring an image or idea from the past into the mind," reminisce implies a casual, often nostalgic recalling of experiences long past and gone.

Why does it feel like everything was better in the past?

We have a tendency to rehearse and dwell on the good things that happened, we retell them a lot more often, and so we reinforce the good memories. Moreover, we tend to remember the great songs or cars or football players from the 'old days' and forget all the bad ones.”

When people refer to the good old days, they are referring to a time in the past when they think that life was better than it is now. He remembers the good old days when you could leave your door open at night.

Rosy retrospection refers to our tendency to recall the past more fondly than the present, all else being equal. It is a cognitive bias that runs parallel with the concept of nostalgia, though the latter does not always directly imply a biased recollection.

Human nature makes us remember more of our youth, it was delicious and it lasted a long time. So that’s my explanation of why people think the past was better….and also why the older we get the faster time moves for us.

I grew up old school in a time with no technology, or very little that is. I thought life was perfect when I grew up.

Our social network was our neighborhood friends and our school. We weren't so narcissistic that we posted everything we think and do on the internet. No Internet yet.

And we played Sports rather than video games. That to me is the most important thing. Things were simpler then, yes. But in a way better.

But I'm not foolish enough to think that technology hasn't given us a plethora of opportunities and things that we didn't have before. I'm always amazed that I can ask my smartphone anything in the recorded history of mankind , and get an answer! So cool. Science and medical advancements through technology Astound us. So in this aspect technology has been a tremendous influence. But unfortunately the internet has morphed into a social media platform more than an educational platform.

MANILA, Philippines — Different generations of Filipino-American "High School Musical" stars reunited at one of the many Oscars parties held after the 97th Academy Awards.

Olivia Rodrigo and Vanessa Hudgens both attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party held in the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, coming together on the red carpet after snapping individual photos.

Both actresses-singers wore black outfits — Olivia in a leather halter top Roberto Cavalli dress and Vanessa in one-shoulder thigh-high feathery Dolce & Gabbana dress.

This marked Vanessa's first red carpet appearance since giving birth to her first child with husband and American football player Cole Tucker who was her date for the night.

Meanwhile, Olivia was accompanied by boyfriend Louis Partridge, star of the "Enola Holmes" movies.

The two previously crossed paths at the 2022 Met Gala when Vanessa was co-hosting the red carpet and Olivia was an invited guest.

Vanessa starred in the three "High School Musical" films, while Olivia broke out in the "High School Musical: The Series" inspired by the trilogy.

In the show, Olivia's character Nini auditions to play the role of Gabriella Montez originated by Vanessa.

Other former Disney stars in attendance at the after-party were Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Lindsay Lohan, as were new Oscar winners Mikey Madison and Zoe Saldaña.

Palme d'Or winner "Anora" topped the Oscars this year as it won five of its six nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress for Madison, and filmmaker Sean Baker winning Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing.

The honors made the director the first individual to win four Oscars for the same film, and the only other person since Walt Disney in 1953 to win four Oscars in one night (Disney's wins were for four different categories).

Easterlies to bring scattered rains over parts of Mindanao

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, March 5 that the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to be the country's dominant weather system.

PAGASA said the easterlies will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant due to the possibility of flash floods or landslides, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said the cold breeze from the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will return in the next few days but may only affect parts of Northern Luzon. 

The rest of the country will continue to experience warm weather.

Heat index 

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, PAGASA forecasts the heat index to reach dangerous levels in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (42 degrees Celsius); Legazpi City, Albay (43℃); Virac, Catanduanes (43℃); and Pili, Camarines Sur (43℃).

PAGASA classifies heat indices between 42°C and 51°C as within the “danger level,” which indicates a higher likelihood of heat-related issues such as cramps, exhaustion, and an increased risk of heat stroke with continued activity.
