As the days draw closer to the dawn of 2026, excitement fills the air for Lorin Gutierrez Bektas. The culmination of years of hard work and determination is finally within reach—she is on the verge of graduating from college.
"I will graduate from university in 2026, and I am extremely excited about that. Making it across that stage and receiving my diploma would be the biggest goal I will meet in 2026," said Lorin during an interview after she was launched as the celebrity endorser for Brilliant Skin Essentials.
Lorin, 22, is currently a senior majoring in Advertising at Pepperdine University, a consistently ranked Christian liberal arts institution in the United States. She divides her time between Malibu and Manila.
"From there, the world is my oyster, as they say, and my goal is to be open-minded and accepting of all the opportunities God sends my way. I want to step out of my comfort zone and say yes to everything. I am most thankful for continued blessings in 2025, from new endorsements to my supportive audience and all the moments in between spent with family and friends," said the eldest daughter of actress Ruffa Gutierrez and businessman Ylmaz Bektas.
Lorin's striking beauty is a legacy passed down from her mother, a former beauty queen whose elegance captivated many. The grace and charm they share are undeniable. I asked Lorin if she ever dreamt of following in her mother’s footsteps and stepping into the glamorous world of pageantry.
"Every little girl dreams, to a certain extent, of being a beauty queen or something similar. I love fashion, beauty, and anything girly, and the Leo in me makes me think it might be a good fit," she said.

However, Lorin feels deep within her heart that the world of pageantry is not meant for her.
"I realized early on that there are many different career paths I can explore, each of which allows me to express myself and my interests in a setting more comfortable for me. My mom gave an iconic performance, and that was her journey, but it is not mine. She was far braver than I could ever be for taking that leap, and I will forever admire her for it. I am more shy and somewhat self-critical, and don't feel drawn to pageantry," she also said.
Lorin often reflected on the countless sacrifices her mother made for her and her younger sister, Venice. With a heart full of gratitude, she cherished the memories of her mom's unwavering support and selflessness, always putting their needs above her own.
"I always say that my mom lights up any room she walks into. As a single working mother who has sacrificed so much to give my sister and me a good life, there is so much I can say, from her resilience to her discipline.
"But, on a happier note, one of my favorite things about her is her infectious joy. It even comes through in her messages; she can text me something and add the cutest string of emoji, and no matter how far I am from her, I can hear it in her voice. Despite all the darkness she has endured in life, she has this unwavering positivity, which is extremely admirable," Lorin added.
