LAPU-LAPU CITY ISSUES SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan is urging all Oponganons to stay alert and highly vigilant following reports of drifting ashfall affecting parts of Lapu-Lapu City today, July 9, 2026. This comes after a three-minute, moderately explosive eruption hit Mt. Kanlaon's summit at 7:33 a.m., maintaining its Alert Level 2 status.
Mask Up & Stay Indoors: Limit outdoor activities. Vulnerable individuals—including children, seniors, and those with respiratory issues—should avoid any unnecessary exposure to volcanic ash.
Secure Your Home: Keep all windows, doors, and building openings tightly shut to keep fine ash particles out.
Clear the Build-up: Frequently check and sweep away heavy ash accumulation from your roofs and gutters once it is safe to do so.
Protect Animals: Move household pets and livestock to sheltered spaces and ensure their food and water supplies are safely covered.
