Psychology is not—and has never been—apolitical. Psychology is part of our everyday lives because all of us have a mind. Society influences how we think, and how we think shapes society. We see that in the rising rates of depression and anxiety in everyday Filipinos. But instead of changing our inconvenient and oppressive societal systems, we blame individuals for their own personal defects.

People say, “Wag kang OA” or “Kulang ka lang kasi sa dasal.” Some even scoff and say: “People today are just so weak.”
